Fidel Castro Sick: Good Riddance
Please get outta here already.
|
Indeed. Got to say though he's been one strong son of a gun. Survived both the CIA and the Mafia trying to take him out over all these years and he's still kicking.
|
why the hate?
|
Hope that the cuban people can have a better future when he dies

It should be interesting to see who goes for the power next. |
Castro will be missed by millions of people worldwide. He stood up to a monster; he stood up to all their plotting and all their deceit. They tried to crush his country with sanctions thus forcing his people to revolt against him. Instead, they fight even harder to survive... and they did. Castro is a hero and will be missed. Viva la Cuba! VIVA LA CASTRO!

Seems apparent that you have never been there. I have. And My mother in law still lives there. She is a doctor, and makes a grand total of 17$ a month. Yep thats it. And it costs her and her husband who is under mandatory retirment, at least 55$ a month to have the basic things that they need to survive. Medicine in Cuba is some of the best in the world. And their food is not all preservatives like in the US. So they do live longer. But they are NOT doing all right. |
Without Castro, Cuba would just be another banana republic and the only people benefiting would be tourists, drug lords, and corrupt politicians.

I'm not a commie, but hell, I gotta admit the guy did quite well with a perennial blockage and leading an island that only produced sugar before him. btw, their houses and material posessions are poor and shitty, but they rank at the highest level in education and health, way above US and most euro countries. And all that for free. I wish I'd have that in my country. I had to study Cuba for my thesis and there are a lot of aspects to be critic of, but the way people lives (in terms of plain subsistence) is not one of those aspects. And several years after college, I went to Cuba and saw it by myself. I agree is not the same for tourists and perception is modified, they even have different currency for tourists and such. But when I was there, almost 4 years ago they just had had elections (believe me, no matter what US press says, they have elections, try to read european countries newspapers) and then a massive support demostration with millions of people cheering Fidel. And I saw that demostration of support on Germany's TV, not Cuba propaganda (which they have, and very strong). I think it's time for Fidel to leave. But I also think they'll face very hard times now, Fidel is like the glue that gave cohesion to the cuban system, and without him everything they have (bad or good) will fall apart. and btw, US loves Fidel and Cuba the way it is, it was always an excuse for "the communist danger", more money for weapons, propaganda and whatever you'd imagine :winkwink: |

He's a trooper for sure.

Have you ever even been to Cuba?
Castro has his shit together. |
Cuba has the best health care system in the world.
Castro dethroned the dictator Batista and brought freedom to the Cuban people. Even though some may hate him there is no denying that he is a living legend |

yes, he will be missed by millions of morons worldwide who did not have to live under his regime. There is not one single Cuban that loves Fidel. He has separated their families, he has destroyed their lives, he has starved them for years, and not only food wise, but freedom wise. He is a monster, and I pray he will die from whatever it is that he has. |

Condemn me. It does not matter. History will absolve me - Fidel Castro
There is no doubt that alot of people hate him but i think the same amount of people revere him. It is hard to judge really...I mean Fidel must be one of the greatest leaders of modern times and of the 20th century if you look at what he did. Instead of hiding in bunkers like every other leader in the world Fidel was actually on the front lines in his battles, he was willing to sacrifice himself to lead his people which alot of leaders just do behind a desk. Like Pierre Salinger said, if Kennedy did not get assasinated US/Cuban relations would be totally different and i think we would see Castro in a different light for sure because Kennedy was about to lift the embargo and Cuba/US relations would have resumed, but unfortunately Kennedy was killed and the rest is history |
Its funny as hell watching all the Cubans dancing in the streets of Miami. Turn on the Spanish TV network.

I'm cuban, I have to completely disagree. Castro with all the good intentions he may have begun with has completely fucked Cuba over, made it one of the poorest countries not only in this hemisphere, but in the world (when he took over it had one of the highest per capita world wide) and has stolen billions and stashed it away for himself. All fact. Great, free healthcare?, it was available for everyone already as it is in the Us for those that cannot afford it.He also ruined 3 generations of people by instilling a lack of motivation or work ethic because regardless of whether they work hard or not, clean streets or are doctors they all earn the same wage. That's stupid. |
I forgot to mention that he's credited for over 200,000 killings ordered by him personally, great man indeed, You are ignorant people for idolizing him. He mearly maintained power because he hid behind the iron curtain (security blanket) for so many years, not because he was a good leader.
I'm sure some of you idolize Hitler as well, or Stalin? Good for you keep dreaming of an anti semetic existance as well. i am happy that he's dying of Parkinsons and is reduced to self defication. I hope he enjoys sitting in his own soiled pants. |

he has survived a hell of a lot of bullshit
|
we are even lucky to be alive and to read and write about this, considering the Cuban Missile Crisis was literally one minute away from starting a thermonuclear war between the two superpowers. it was a fluke it didn't happen. ships almost ramming nuclear subs, you name it; it almost happened.
and many would have become burnt toast. |

And what's that Stalin, Hitler and antisemitic bullshit? I AM A JEW YOU FUCKING MORON! And you're telling more than half of Cuba's population got out to the streets to cherish him just because they're unhappy? Who are you? Fucking Mas Canosa? Do you fucking realize millions and millions of people in the streets would tumble any, and I mean ANY government? And Cuban people is so stupid they chose not to? How many guerrilla fighters were in Castro's and Che's army after the "granma"? 13? and they defeated a dictator like Batista? and now you're telling me that MILLIONS (as worlwide TV shown) couldn't defeat him assuming they want to? I'm not telling there aren't wrong things in Cuba, ie the killings, I'm just telling what I SAW with my own eyes. Of course I like to drive my BMW instead of some 70s russian car. Or having a steak instead of the usual cuban diet. Still, with everything against them, they did good. That's what I put on the scale. btw, I'm not in the mood to look for it now, but I've all the economics info on Cuba from 1912 (way before Castro) and after January 1st 1959 until 1982 and you're talking out of your ass, not a fucking idea what you're talking about, not matter if Cuban or not. btw, info given by Batista's government, US Department of Industry and UN between others, not Mas Canosa and his narco band |
Whether you love or hate him, Fidel Castro is an extraordinary man in history.
A few Castro quotes... "I warn you, I am just beginning! If there is in your hearts a vestige of love for your country, love for humanity, love for justice, listen carefully... I know that the regime will try to suppress the truth by all possible means; I know that there will be a conspiracy to bury me in oblivion. But my voice will not be stifled ? it will rise from my breast even when I feel most alone, and my heart will give it all the fire that callous cowards deny it... Condemn me. It does not matter. History will absolve me." - A statement Castro read at his trial for an earlier failed attempt to overthrow the Batista regime "I began a revolution with 82 men. If I had do it again, I'd do it with 10 or 15 with absolute faith. It does not matter how small you are if you have faith and plan of action." Fidel Castro (the revolutionary lawyer) with his companion Che Guevara (the revolutionary doctor): http://www.thechestore.com/images/rev-Che-Fidel-2.jpg "Men do not shape destiny, Destiny produces the man for the hour." With all that said, I believe the time for change in leadership Cuba is past due. Whatever the future may hold for Cuba, I will always remain impressed with how a small island country stood up to and defied a superpower, and despite tremendous pressure, refused to get down on a bended knee, but instead stood proudly and toiled hard to create an alternative form of government. I am in no way a moron. Inside information is key, I had 14 family member's in politcal power in CUba and my family financially backed 12% of castro's initial force to free cuba from Batista. Want to speak intelligently or do you want to quote me shit from History books you read in college? I'm sure you beleive Che is a hero and he tried and failed to liberate the South american's from oppression and that he was brutally ambushed by the guerilla's? Did you know Castro informed the CIA of his Where abouts and turned him over in exchange for arms and some alleviate pressure ? Che was handed over by his "ally and comrade" because he was too politically powerful in CUba. |
