Today is the day that I quit drinking for good.

I'm over it. Doesn't do anything positive for me anymore and only makes me feel bad the next day. I really don't even like being buzzed anymore. Am I growing up or is it my body's way of telling me to give it a rest?

So after today, I will be on the wagon. :thumbsup

Babagirls 11-27-2005 10:37 AM

Yeah, I just got a membership at the local gym so I look to get my "buzz" there as well. :thumbsup

who 11-27-2005 10:42 AM

Yeah I recently joined a gym myself and have dramatically decreased my alcohol intake.

The only problem for me is that my roof got blown to pieces by a storm, and now the snow's set in. I have to go and live with my fiance's mother for about six months... I think it'll put me back on the bottle.

i used to drink damn near everyday...sometimes i'd pass out, sometimes i'd be puking at 5am then pass out by the toliet.....it took me earlier this year (March) that i drank too much and got alchohol poisioning one night. worst night of my life!! i felt like i was dying a slow death (probably was!) i puked/dry heaved for 2 days, i was dehydrated, took me a week to recover (couldnt hold any food down for 3 days). that was my wake up call.

feN 11-27-2005 10:45 AM

I haven't quit, but I have cut waaaaaaaaaaaaay the fuck down.

As in a bottle of wine will generally last me two weeks, and I used to drink 2+ a night.

karlm 11-27-2005 11:00 AM

Same as me but im only 19. I have been drinking fairly hard since the age of 16 every fri and sat im bladered. I have seen lots of fights beetween friends. Waking up and not remembering a thing and just spending the hole day being paranoid about what i might of done, I still drink but not as much as usual. Btw im in the uk so have been drinking legaly for a year and a half

Hey Baddog. Can you explain the spike? Is that something that happens after you quit drinking or is it something different?

Violetta 11-27-2005 09:13 PM

Number of times people have said they will NEVER drink again the day after a wet night: 87432891287!

Do you think you can actually stop drinking Rob? I'm not saying that it would be strange or impossible. But I know from my own experience that a couple of days later, its all forgotten and a cold beer smells and taste like HEAVEN!

Good luck to you anyway!

Actually, I made that statement while I felt great and didn't have a drink the night before.

Adultnet 11-28-2005 11:10 AM

MikeHawk 11-28-2005 04:05 PM

Brother Rob....so glad that you might be listening to the "signals" most dont before its way way to late...

You are a person whom i really like, and at any time hit me up on icq...i have walked down the very same road you are now....i stopped Jan 17th 1989...and have not looked back since, that makes me 17 years sober this Jan.

Seems you are are at that great "crossroads" of life....

:thumbsup

SlickCash Brock 11-28-2005 04:26 PM

I will 100% agree with MikeHawk! He is a guy i consider a good friend! I too once made the same choice. I realized the same thing and made a decision. My last drink was almost 3 years ago. The life i enjoy today becasue of that decision I would not trade for anything! If you can realize your need to make a change Rob, you are one of the very lucky ones!

Bluewire Ross 11-28-2005 04:30 PM

To drink or not to drink. It's a choice. It's a decision. I'm a social drinker. So, maybe I drink 4 to 5 times a year!
