Saw "Charlie and the Choclate factory" last night

It was OK with good graphics (I expected to be better with all the great reviews), but you have to go with a child's view point. If you take your kids, they will love it, I did.
I will see "The Wedding Crashers" next.

jacked 07-17-2005 09:56 AM

dam i really need to go see that flick everyones been saying how good it was

Pim(P) 07-17-2005 10:10 AM

Thanks for the comment. I'll go check this one :)

CashLikeWhoa_Mike 07-17-2005 10:13 AM

did they have the oompa loompas in it?

those midget green dudes with the strange hair that sang that song: "oompa doompa doompity doo - i've got another puzzle for you!"

they were the best part of the original movie. without the remake will be severely lacking

Yeah, they were in this one as well, though of course they looked quite different.

I really liked this movie, Johnny Depp was absolutely hysterical.

Rob 07-17-2005 11:32 AM

I liked the movie a lot!

The Umpa Loompa's have a new song now. It goes, "Umpa Loompa umpity doo...I've got another Iraqi Umpa for you!".

There was only one Umpa and they CGI'd the rest of them. I laughed my ass off at them though (their dances were updated and histerical!). Definetely go check it out. :2 cents:

Has anyone seen Wedding Crashers?

Movies.com gave it great reviews, but I said it was OK. Wedding Crashers had a bad review on Movies.com, also.

sharpx9 07-17-2005 11:54 AM

Looks kind of freaky to me.

BlackCrayon 07-17-2005 11:55 AM

way too much cgi as is usual in most big buget movies these days. most of the factory was probably fake, the umpa loompas were fake. instead of the cheesy songs they used to sing they were all these big fake production numbers. i liked the movie but still prefer the old one.

Vanilla DeVille 07-17-2005 12:11 PM

Going to see it tonight... thanks for the feedback! :upsidedow

I totally agree, it was cartoonish, but still good.

bdld 07-17-2005 12:44 PM

it was alright, definately a movie all kids should watch

The songs that they sang were the actual lyrics from the songs that the Oompa Loompas sang in the book.

well thats a plus then, i haven't read the book since 3rd grade so i thought they were just trying to make them 'better'.

I got the soundtrack and it says Words and Lyrics by Roald Dahl, Music By Danny Elfman.

They're not complete word for word, but the lyrics come from the book.

Rottentomatoes.com is the only review site that matters. :thumbsup

tristan_D 07-17-2005 05:23 PM

it's really intended to be a kid movie and it looks like they will love it. I will go and see it next week.

StuartD 07-17-2005 06:29 PM

I really enjoyed the movie myself, but my reviews never matter because I enjoy all movies (believe it or not, I don't go to shows to analyze).

I saw it on an IMAX screen :glugglug

sniperwolf 07-17-2005 06:52 PM

xclusive 07-17-2005 06:54 PM

i'm seeing it on imax tomorrow i hope

pxxx 07-17-2005 06:55 PM

I don't think I will ever go to see that movie.

reynold 07-17-2005 08:36 PM

okay, i know that was a good film because of Johnny Depp's popularity.

Spunky 07-17-2005 09:18 PM

Looked like a kids movie anyways.

PixeLs 07-17-2005 10:32 PM

They said the child's acting there is absolutely commendable. I think I'll see this one.

eoworm 07-17-2005 10:46 PM

it was weird how wonka's dad was count dooku.

and... depp is a great actor, but did anyone else think his character influence was michael jackson?

the movie was good, more true to the book... in parts.
there were a lot of extra scenes that weren't in the book at all.

as gene wilder said, the only reason to redo this movie is $$$$$

Should be much better seeing it on imax :thumbsup

Bama 07-17-2005 10:56 PM

I saw it today with my daughter - she liked it, I think it sucked.

Willy Wonka looked like he's been hitting the mushrooms a little bit too much since they made the last movie.

Saw it here in Las Vegas last night at the IMax in the Palms Hotel with my kids. It was a BLAST!
IMax is the way to see it!!

Stacey_JoinRightNow 07-17-2005 11:21 PM

I still have to watch it.

I have to mostly agree with you there, but I don't it sucked totally. It was O.K. for me but my kids loved it.

reed_4 07-18-2005 12:27 AM

i've enjoyed those fantastic graphics and effects.

Ricky Dynamite 07-18-2005 01:11 AM

I was watching some making of Willa Wonka on TV the other day. Most of that stuff isn't CGI, including the squirrels. They trained those fuckers to do manual labor.

WWC 07-18-2005 01:35 AM

Wedding Crashers was the funniest shit i have seen for a long time!

DWB 07-18-2005 01:36 AM

i almost walked out 30 minutes in. i thought it sucked ass.

je_rome 07-18-2005 01:39 AM

i watched it already and it is worth watching it in big screen. i loved it! i love it better than wedding crashers.

VeriSexy 07-18-2005 02:32 AM

Will go see it soon :thumbsup

Sarah_Jayne 07-18-2005 04:19 AM

I'm seeing it when it comes out regardless of what anyone says. I was so against this remake for years until Burton and Depp came on board.

Probably not as much cgi as you think.

This was very interesting.
