when the ghostbusters finish off the giant stay-puft marshmallow man.

2HousePlague 06-04-2005 12:26 AM

"The Lathe of Heaven" -- he just wakes up -- and NOTHING's there -- i think that's so much scarier than watching it all explode -- :) -- because we know it's far more likely to happen -- :)

I thought the opening scene of Armageddon was cool when I saw it on the big screen, where the asteroid crashes into the Earth.

:thumbsup

That is a good movie, but I'd still give Aliens the nod as best ever. :2 cents:

Aliens is definitely in my top 10! What I liked about Predator was the transition from hard-core military action movie to barbarian animal instint kill-or-be-killed masterpiece. It doesn't get much better than that IMHO! :)

pr0 06-04-2005 01:08 AM

Rambo's gotta be in there too

So is UHF's version of rambo ; )

Vitasoy 06-04-2005 01:13 AM

Anytime you have a movie with that kind of scope and symbolism some people will get confused and in frustration reject it. For some anything beyond the dumb-down popcorn flick will hurt their brains. Sad but true... :(

Another example is "What Dreams May Come". A magnificent film that flopped at the box office - too deep for most ppl... :disgust

Nydahl 06-04-2005 01:53 AM

I am thinking about that Leslie Nielsen comedy - Naked gun I think
that firework storage

In Predator where Arnie and his pals basically clear a South American jungle ... and of course, they hit nothing.

evildick 06-04-2005 06:04 AM

The movie Ghost Ship, in the first 5 minutes when that metal wire cuts every person in half on the deck of the ship. It was the only good scene in the whole movie but it was pretty dam good.

Nothing like seeing a lady cut in half squirming on the floor trying to attach her torso back to her severed legs.
:1orglaugh
Too bad the rest of the movie is horrible.

ADL Colin 06-04-2005 06:11 AM

Luke blowing up the Death Star. Just because.

CheeseFrog 06-04-2005 06:28 AM

Death Star blowing up Alderan.
