I'm Sickened By What I Just Heard On The Radio

holy shit - this news story i just heard on the radio just made me so angry I had to post it here. The news chick reads this story and she does it in that annoying voice radio news chicks have like this is some funny story - it's about a drunk driver who was sentenced yesterday to a stiff sentence of 15 years in jail. I'd put him in for 25 minimum but 15 years is a long sentence. Then the news chick adds on to the story that the reason he got this tough 15 year sentence is .................. IT'S HIS SECOND FUCKING DRUNK DRIVING CAUSING SOMEBODY ELSE TO DIE CONVICTION!! TWICE HE'S KILLED!!!
And then she adds the guy is 35 and the judge has also prohibited him from every getting a license again.

IS THIS INSANE? HE'S KILLED TWO FUCKING PEOPLE WITH HIS STUPIDITY AND HE GETS 15 YEARS AND HE'LL BE A FREE MAN AT 50???

damn that pisses me off. he should get the fucking electric chair.

Love Brokers 05-12-2005 03:09 AM

He'll serve less than half for good behavior and overcrowding.

I agree, if you kill someone you should die, if you steal you should have your hand cut off. I am not being sarcastic a bit either, I truly feel that way. People would think twice about doing stupid shit if the sentences were more severe. :2 cents:

Damian_Maxcash 05-12-2005 03:12 AM

I did it once 8 years ago... DUI that is, I didnt kill anyone - and my ban finished 6 years ago, but I have never driven since and I will never drive again.

Its just not worth it

macker 05-12-2005 03:14 AM

So he has a license when he killed the 2nd person? :(

Snake Doctor 05-12-2005 03:16 AM

If you can afford to buy drinks, you can afford to call a cab. :2 cents:

He didn't kill 2 people.

The first time he was just caught DUI.

The second time he was drving drunk, he killed someone.

Furious_Female 05-12-2005 03:29 AM

Drunk drivers who kill people should be treated as murderers. It's so careless and preventable... ugh :Oh crap

can't find the story, do you have it?

if you're right the news lady wrote the story really poorly because it sounded like this was the second DUI homicide for this idiot.

macker 05-12-2005 03:34 AM

Whether he technically "killed" 2 people or not, it doesn't make it anymore acceptable.

The "killed 2 people" version doesn't make any sense.

If he was drunk and killed someone the first time - there's no way he'd walk from the trial.

Mutt 05-12-2005 03:47 AM

you are overestimating how retarded society and the justice system is these days. i thought you had heard or read the same story. As ridiculous as it sounds he could have killed somebody when he was 18 - got a 10 year sentence, probably did 5 years and suspended his license for 10, and now 8 years later he gets plastered and kills again.

So.. If you flick people off you should have your finger cut off as well?

Hello anybody here from the civilized world???

KRL 05-12-2005 03:53 AM

That other loser that killed the little girl in Florida several weeks ago John Cooey had 24 prior arrests.

WTF? If someone's been in jail 24 times, they should never be let free again.

Not true. My cousin and her 2 children were killed by a drunk driver the driver got 10 years probation.

Not worth it? Would be just easier not to drink anymore than not drive for the rest of your life. Seriously, everyone makes mistakes. No reason to punish yourself forever over it.

but if you find me with a sack of crack, I'll get 50 years....Then people will come with the bullshit about how more blacks are in jail.

Im a drinker and perhaps one day I will do something about that, but in the mean time it is easier not to drive at all... ever.... period.

To be honest it was a problem in NZ but here in Central London it dosnt bother me... Its often easier to use public tranport, and a lot safer/cheaper.

This is just like the drunk politician that creamed a Harley rider, Nothing happened to the cager. So, if you'll allow it in one area, you must allow it in all areas. Right?

Oh, the above video? The cager is out on bail and probably won't be facing any charges. This happened last Thursday in Mexico City. But, it happens everywhere, including the US, all the fucking time!

David! 05-12-2005 06:32 AM

Drunk drivers who cause someone else to die should be treated as the murderers they are. :2 cents:

amazes me that everything will somehow be turned into a race issue, wtf??

Quickdraw 05-12-2005 06:34 AM

A guy in this town sodomized 2 girls, 9 and 11. Spent 5 years in prison.

When he got out he moved right across the street from an elementary school and a junior high. And the system allowed it.

I don't know wtf you're talking about...I'm talking about crack cocaine sentencing. Just because I put the word "black" in the sentence, the whiners come out asking why race was brought up?

Open your eyes and your mind for a minute.

edit....and I can make anything I want a race issue.(even though I wasn't doing it here). So wtf are YOU going to do about it?

Sarah_Jayne 05-12-2005 06:37 AM

don't get me started on drunk driving...i used to say I was living with a man that was disabled for life because of a drunk driver. Now I can say that those injuries contributed strongly to his death even if it was 12 years later.

Spankys Teens 05-12-2005 06:37 AM

he should get fucking run over as well, that's real pain...the chair is the easy way out!

You're saying that 90% of prison population are minorities because white men are prejudiced towards them and specifically come up with harsh drug sentences ?

You got to be fucking kidding me.

What am I going to do about it? LOL. Meet behind the bike racks after 3rd period.
Thank you jebus for freedom of speech.

notjoe 05-12-2005 06:48 AM

It'll never be a capital crime. If you kill someone at best it would be considered manslaughter and not murder 1 or something of the likes...sad but true...

It's pretty sad though that you can destroy the lives of countless people and only lose 15 years of yours.

Actually... the politician (Bill Janklow, South Dakota) wasn't drunk but did blow through a stop sign doing 75 in a 55. He claimed to be suffering from a sugar imbalance at the time. He did resign from the House and served some time but not much.

And please don't get me wrong, here... I am not trying to defend drunk-driving, plowing through stop signs or getting light sentences because you are well connected. All are fucking wrong. Just getting the facts straight.

article

As far as drunk driving goes... I don't agree in the death penalty but there should be WAY stiffer penalties for DUI offenses in this stupid country. We are way to lax about alcohol use. Especially when compared to the sentences dolled out for drug offenses (particularly pot).

TehKinkyHotness 05-12-2005 07:29 AM

Yep its a fucked up world. Similar story happened to a friend of mine. She was hit and killed by a drunki driver with previous DWI convictions. This time he gets a whopping 3 years max. Please dont drint and drive. She was 18 and about 6 months out of high school.

Peaches 05-12-2005 07:35 AM

Go spend a couple of days in traffic court. The number of people on their 2nd, 3rd, etc. DUIs who get nothing more than a slap on the wrist is pathetic. Last time I was there a lady had gotten her 3rd DUI when she ran away from the recovery facility the courts demanded she go to. She got a small fine ($1000) and required to return to the same facility and her license was suspended for a whole year. Wow. A whole year for someone who had 3 DUIs and obviously shouldn't have been driving. Sickening.

Screaming 05-12-2005 07:45 AM

yeah i cant believe they didnt hit him with manslaughter charges
