What would you do if you were drafted?

If Bush starts too many wars than he has troops for and starts dipping into the general population, would you fight?

Sambo 11-22-2004 04:55 AM

CET 11-22-2004 05:02 AM

1. I already served and was honorably discharged.

2. I am an only child.

3. I would claim status as a consciencious objector.

xclusive 11-22-2004 05:03 AM

You'd do that to save us a nickel at the pump?
You're a swell guy!:winkwink:

Peaches 11-22-2004 06:57 AM

Start a thread:

"What would you do it you won a trillion dollars?"

Same chances of it happening as the draft being reinstated during your lifetime. :thumbsup

Danny_C 11-22-2004 07:23 AM

There will be no draft.

^Delusions of grandeur.

I rather die defending my family, then this Country. Am I anti-US? Not by any means. I love this Country. However I will not be left at the helm, of some out of touch 60-yr old who deems it socially acceptable to destroy the upcoming lives of todays youth. Just - So they, the out of touch 60-yr old, can hold their head up high. As they parade around with false patriotism.

angeleyes 11-22-2004 07:40 AM

no :2 cents:

dcortez 11-22-2004 07:46 AM

Finally!

Being born Sept. 11, 1958 comes in handy.

Too old to be useful.

(that is is the draft extends to the US state of Canada.)

I was drafted in my country and I was in the first gulf war.
I was young and a fool thinking being drafted ment you actually had to go.
So much waisted time for things I did not even believe in.
I would tell them to come and get me now....:321GFY

fr33s3x 11-22-2004 11:25 AM

no

Tala 11-22-2004 11:30 AM

I'd just about shit bricks.

1. Already served, honorable discharge due to injury.

2. My re-enlistment status is "Keep dreaming"

3. I'm female.

4. I'm about 100 pounds too heavy.

5. I've learned too much about myself to deal well with blinded authority.

6. Dubya can suck my toes until he dies from the polish.

Honest question ..

I always thought being drafted meant being forced to go ? Else face possible jail time ?

Yes correct. The draft was for a year. The alternative would have been in jail for two years.
When you are 20 two years looks like eternity.

Are college students exempt this go around?

Bama 11-22-2004 12:21 PM

Sheesh....

Attitudes like I'm reading here are what's what's wrong with this country.

Fight for oil... If I believe in the cause...

When you pledge allegiance to the United States - there is not space to add little caveats or levels of allegiance or for the simple minded - pledging allegiance under certain circumstances.

You don't question - you serve
You don't mull it over - you serve

If the Commander In Chief says we go to war, we go to war. You don't get to decide if you like the guy or not.

MANY people, much smarter than the likes of what I'm reading here and in the position to do so, have already done the questioning and advising.

Thank GOD that people like you weren't around during WWII - we'd all be speaking German about now.

No, they're saying that people won't be given student deferments if they start the draft again. The new rules leave basically no loopholes. and you can't run to Canada. I seriously hope that once the draft does start, the Canadian government will change their minds and start accepting draft dodgers.

lol, stop watching TV, that's not what you're supposed to do at all. That's what you're supposed to do in North Korea.

"You don't question", that's the saddest thing I've ever seen a "free citizen" write. Take a fucking history lesson, a lot of people died so you don't have to be an ignorant sheep.

If i foud out I had been drafted I would try to bust myself out of the parrellel dimension some of you people are creating to attack bush.

I voted for kerry, but come on.... part of the reason we lost is becasue people were using shit like this and stories about puff the magic dragon attacking the earth if bush won.

THE LATEST DRAFT REFORM BILLS WERE SPONSORED BY DEMOCRATS. :2 cents:

EXACTLY I can't believe that you guys are still falling for this obvious "the big draft is coming" scare tactic. Tala, you should know better. The military doesn't want the draft, and we don't need it unless we were to face a general invasion of the continental US. That horse is dead already. It's not going to happen.

*sighing and shaking head in exasperation*

WWII was a different era. Today it's much more difficult to blind people with propaganda, as Hilter did in Europe.

the_wizz 11-22-2004 12:47 PM

If it came down to a point where there was a chance I could be drafted, I would enlist before I was drafted.

With my education and other training, I would end up better if I enlisted on my own then if I was drafted (I've already checked in to this).

If my country needs me, I'd go. No question.

tranza 11-22-2004 12:50 PM

I would change countries.

But I guess I'll never have that problem...

I am not a US citizen that is why I said MY country.
I was drafted in the Netherlands.
90-6 meaning last period of 1990.
I think the draft in the Netherlands ended in about 92.

hahahaha, yeah exactly like when the Vietnamese invaded the continental United States. I love American TV babies who see America's military as infinite. How many countries do you think you can be at war with without having a draft? 3? 5? 7?
