What is the most popular fast food/junk food in your area?
 

Apparently it is doner kebab in Germany but I do want to try the currywurst thing just once to say I have.

Doner kebab most popular snack in Germany

A new handbook about Germany says the doner kebab is more popular than the country's beloved sausage.

Everything from the German fondness for garden gnomes and cuckoo clocks to where to get the best beer is covered in the new 'Manual for Germany'.

It's designed by the government for immigrants planning to move there in a bid to attract more skilled workers.

And among the 220-page handbook, the authors lament that sausage lovers will no longer find sausage stalls at every corner, saying the doner kebab has replaced the sausage stall as the most popular fast food snack.

That's despite attempts by sausage sellers to fight back with new varieties like the "curry sausage".

The book says: "Fried sausage was Germany's number one fast food for decades. This has now been replaced by the doner kebab from Turkey. There is almost no town or village in Germany that doesn't have the meat kebab that rotates on a spit, is sliced and served in Turkish bread."

Id say a hamburger place called Sibylla , or a swedish fastfood chain (like MCD) called MAX

Do they just serve burgers or is there something they do that is very swedish?

That surprises me. On my trips to Germany everyone seems to be visiting the sausage stalls and eating them. Plenty of the kebab places around but usually far less busy.

Mcdonalds. For fast food, I prefer In-and-out though.

I think Donner Kebab also. Maybe Chinese....

Not entirely sure. My personal favourite is Chinese. But when I'm drunk nothing beats a Kebab :)

Hardee's has come a long way in my area. Their breakfast is GREASY AS HELL but good... And the "Thickburgers" are awesome! The best without going to a real restraunt or making it yourself. :thumbsup

I dunno.. We got like 1 McDonalds in town and thats the only fastfood restaurant around..

In N Out is popular here, the drive-thru is SOOO crowded, the line spills over into the freakin' street... The line is so long it sometimes even holds up traffic in the streets and almost causes traffic accidents, I am not kidding. I think there were times when I waited for over 30 min in the drive thru! There's no room to even wait in the In N Out compund, you have to start waiting on the street and people get mad and honk, and it's almost always busy like this.

There was a Hardee's in my town growing up but it has long since been sold to another chain. That was a dark day just for their biscuits and gravy and their mushroom swiss burgers alone.

The In N Out down the street from my house is the most popular fast food place here.

San Diego... Robertos Taco Shop or any derivitive of the *bertos* name... i.e. Alibertos, Roybertos, etc...

I don't know where you went but Doner Kebab is definitely No.1 in Germany. It's a different story if you go to Oktoberfest or tourist areas though... for obvious reasons :)
