My uncle had a spider monkey, they are the nastiest little creatures on the planet. It STANK to high heaven and it would throw anything it could get it's hands on at you.

When my grandpa was alive, he had a couple. They had an alligator too. Monkeys used to be hella easy to buy. You could order them out of the back of comic books.

They were mean, wild little suckers though. They'd catch them in the wild and then ship them to the states in large numbers before it was illegal.

I heard they are high maintenance. It sounds fun in theory but who does daycare for monkeys?

actually, one of the funnest things ever to do is to throw bubble gum into the baboon area at the zoo. They'll pick it up, start chewing it, and eventually stick it to one of their friends.:1orglaugh

That Orang, if it is male(once full grown) will be too strong for any human to handle, let alone a dog.

An Orangutan or "Man of the Forest" is an ape, not a monkey. They are one of the most intelligent animal in the world. Like the chimp, they've been known to speak an incredible variety of sign languages, use and create their own tools, and can identify self when present w/ a mirror (a monkey would think it's another monkey, but an Orang knows the object in the mirror is that of their self image)

I wouldn't recommend any Orang as a pet. Most likely they'll end up in a cage or killed when the owner can no longer control them.

I ran into a chimp at a party once. He stood waist high on me, and was wearing diapers the whole time. His handler had to keep him on a leash or hold his hand the entire time, because if it saw any children or anything shorter than it, it would try to dominate them by beating them up! Those cute little things are amazingly strong, and belong in the jungle, not in a house. I know I was scared, even with the handler there.
