My Daughty Might Have Epilepsy
Well guys, it kind of sucks here. I don't know what's up with my 13 month old daughter, but we're thinking that she might have epilepsy. We finally got our little girl, but now she has to have problems.
She's been having bad spells this last week. She fell over 3 times, then just laid there in a blank stare for a minute, drained of energy. Plus a couple of times, she started crying, then she kinda lost her breath, rolling her eyes up for a quick second, then coming back too. We're hoping for the best here with her, praying that it might be something else wrong with her, but for now, it's looking like it might be epilepsy. On March 19th, we have to bring her to see a Neurologist to find out what's going with her. I feel soooooo bad for her, she's my little girl, I love her with all of my heart. I'd hate to have to see her grow taking drugs every day of her life. From what I hear, the drugs make ya droggy, that wouldn't be any way for her to grow up. Me and the wifey are pretty upset over the whole matter, it's pretty tragic news to hear. I guess that we just have to hope for the best. These 2 weeks until the test are gonna be hard to go through. Keep us in your prayers, we'll need them. http://www.naughtythoughts.com/nikiah1.jpg |
Man.... Im so sorry to hear that. Its hard to explain to someone so young and its even harder to watch them go thought something like that..
Best of luck to your daughter and the rest of your family. |
oh my god I hope that is not the case... she is so adorable!
|
awww such a cutie
sorry to hear that, good luckl and keep us posted |
What a cutie...I sure hope its something that can be cured..:(
|
Get 2nd and 3rd opinions before you do anything medically. My sister had something like this with one of her daughters and it ended up not being what the first doctor diagnosed. They eventually treated her problem.
I hope she is ok. Nothing tears your heart apart more than having these types of things happen with our precious little angels. |
went through this with my youngest son turned out to be an allergy to baby cereal.
Don't lose hope it could be something small like that. My son used to go completely lethargic. |
That's a horrible possibility to be facing. I wish you and your family all the best. Fingers crossed for all of you.
|
Thanks for all of the supportive words guys and gals, me and the family greatly appreciate them :thumbsup
We're all hoping for the best here. The medical people in my area aren't exactly the best, we're going to a fair sized hospital for our area, Marquette General, but it's still not like the ones down in the city. We'll see what they have to say, if it's not what we want to hear, we might have to go to one of the better hospitals. We're hoping that it's just something simple that'll be easy to get rid of. I'm sure that it'd really suck if it is a long term problem. |
That sucks man, I hope it's something less severe than epilepsy, but even if it is don't get too discouraged. By the time she's a little older it may be completely gone or it may just turn up when she's in bed or something. One of my friends had it all growing up and now she takes nothing, another one developed it recently(she's 16) but it only happens when she's about to go to sleep so it's no biggie in the big scheme of things. Even if she has to go through school needing a seizure braeak sometimes, it's most likely that by the time she has to drive it won't be a problem anymore.
Best of luck! |
wow, she is really beauitful.
I will be thinking about her... I hope all goes well. |
Your daughter is adorable and I hope all the best for her and your family.
I really hope that it's something like JFP's case. |
slick
best wishes and hope it's nothing serious but just in case, until she's definitely okay KEEP HER OFF TV, MONITOR, VIDEO GAMES!... |
Wow, you guys (and gals) are great. I'm overwhelmed by the fast posts of support here, you're all the greatest :)
Thanks again for the words, tips, and stories of situations that weren't as bad as they seemed. Nikiah is my little angel, I don't know what I'd do if there was something majorly wrong with her. I guess that some people say that millions of people have epilepsy in the world and live life everyday, so perhaps it wouldn't be that bad IF that is what she's got. I'd just hope that it's not what Nikiah got, but the signs are pointing in that direction. The strange thing is that everything kicked in all within 1 weeks time. She did have 1 small incident kinda like it a few months back, but in this last week has been when it's been hitting her, which is odd. You'd think that it'd kinda creep up on her more little by little rather than just nailing her like that. |
what a cute litle girl ! :) :) :thumbsup
I hope she will have nothing ! i sugest you go imediatly to the emergency and tell them that .. and make pression .. So they will make effective test to know if something wrong ... its better and faster way to know .. I wish hera good re-establishment :) |
She's a TOTAL cutie.. And if she has epilepsy, things will be okay. There ARE ways to treat it, and you don't always have to resort to heavy medications. Remember there are varying degrees of epilepsy as well. Therapy may help, but it's worth doing some research on as well. Good luck though.
Blessed be. |

Trust me I went through the same hell your going through waiting for the nuerologist testing then the results only to be sent to a dermatologist and find out it was a small allergy. Think about it and if you did make changes go back to what you were doing before and see if her symptoms improve. BTW it was me and my g/f that figured out about the cereal not the doctors. They would have kept testing had we not found it. |
Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Like I say, it's kinda strange how everything really just hit her in the last week, that's what we can't understand. |
AWW slick, she is so precious...my prayers are with you and your family and good luck with everything
|
Postive energy & peaceful thoughts going out to such a cute angel...
|
Damn, Slick, sorry to hear this news. Hey, you know I'll be hoping for the best outcome for your little girl bro.
Prayers man. Like some have already said, hopefully it's just one of those freaky allergies or something, very best of luck man. |
She sure is a cutie, sorry to hear that. Hope she gets better.
|
Slick...
Sorry to hear about your munchkin...and I hope that this is turns out to be something simple. I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you all....and lots of prayers for the little one.... |
My prayers go out to you and your family, I too am suffering with a family situation.
We must think positively and hope for the best |
Hey man good luck you got a pretty little girl just hug her and love her and tell her how much she means to you day in and day out good luck
|
like everyone else I wish you and your family all the best and hope there is nothing seriously wrong. However, if she does have epilepsy don't give up hope of a somewhat normal life. I have a friend that has it and now is in his 30's holding down a good job at a computer company and supporting his wife and two healthy kids. She will need to learn how to handle it growing up but then so do diabetics, etc. With your support she will have a great life.
|
fucking cute kid.. sorry to hear about that... good luck..
|
sorry to here that, best of luck to you
|
Very cute kid!
Don't over-stress on this. Get her the best medical care you can afford and stay informed. There are great meds available these days for her possible problem. Just make sure she takes them and stays on them and she should be fine. Hopefully it's not very serious, but even if it is a little bit serious, she will be fine with your support! :) |
" She's been having bad spells this last week. She fell over 3 times, then just laid there in a blank stare for a minute, drained of energy. Plus a couple of times, she started crying, then she kinda lost her breath, rolling her eyes up for a quick second, then coming back too. "
... first of all, your little daughter is one of the most beautiful kids I have ever seen, and I donīt say that because you want to hear that ... she is gorgeous. ... as of the other stuff, mate ... she is 13 month of age ... kids in that age fall over, they do cry a lot and they look kinda lost when this all happens. I have a 2 year old son (and 2 3 month old daughters myslef) you really shouldnīt worry about your little beauty. take her to a doctor to find out that there is no problem. btw: my younger brother has epilepsy, he is a good looking sporty man, he takes his medications and has no problems at all. |

As far as your comments about how kids fall over, I guess that you'd have to see what happens when she does what she does, how she acts, it just doesn't look right. The one time she fell over, looking at the expression on her face before she fell, it's like she fainted, it wasn't just a fall. I wish that that's all it was. For the rest of everyone's comments, again I thank you dearly for posting them, it's a great feeling knowing that I have support here on the board :) I'll definately let ya know how everything goes. She has a doctor's appointment tomarrow, but it's just her regular doctor which will pretty much just be a look over, they don't have the equipment at our hospital locally to do any tests. |
Gld Bless my friend....
My prayers are with you and yours. |

from the way you decribe it I am almost 100% sure that it is not epilepsy, because it just does not happen from one second to the other. people that suffer from epilepsy feel "sick" for some minutes before anything happens. you should see the faces my son makes from time to time ... I have a very good feeling about your daughter and I am too sure that you wonīt even remember posting about this "problem" in less than 6 month time ... my thoughts are with you and your familiy !! btw: for how long has she been walking, canīt be longer than 2 month now, right ? |
Quote:
As far as how long she's been walking, she's been walking on her own since she was 8 months old, that's walking all on her own, away from furniture, so now at 13 months, she's an expert :) |

Medicine has come a long way since epilepsy was first diagnosed, if that is what your sweetie has. Explore all the options. The Internet is filled with information about this syndrome. It's not a disease. Yes. Her life will be different, but that doesn't mean she can't have a good life, once the diagnosis is made. The more you know, the more empowered you are to get the best care and treatment. |
I'm sorry to hear about your little girl.
If it is of any consolation, I had the same problem when I was younger and I grew out of it. Occasionally, I will have a seizure, but only once every 10-12 years. I'll say a prayer for the family. |
I feel like crying. Sorry to hear that man.
|
:BangBang:
|
Our prayers are with you.
