bombay sapphire is good, but there are various other gins which have stronger juniper taste which i prefer in coctkails and with tonic... like tanqueray and plymouth.
also try hendrick's, beefeater 24, bulldog, blackwood, mare, etc, just don't save money because you will get garbage gin

Sapphire is to gin like Patron is to tequila - it is not the best tasting, just better distributed and marketed as being "classier", and once you taste the real boutique brands you know that it is only so-so stuff that is basically made for the masses.
Not saying Sapphire is bad, it is what got me into gin and is great for dirty martinis... just saying that gin is like whiskey and tequila and there is a great deal of craft to it.

Interesting. I've always been one to think that the higher end gins are best for dry martinis, and the lower end gins better suited for gin & tonic.
