Do you have a gun?

I don't have one. I know there are many people out there which do have guns. Do you have one?

Thinking about getting something new. Maybe an RPG or something. I need excitement.

Guns are evil, but a flak cannon from UT would be kickass :>

When I lived on the side of a mountain in Colorado, where there were bears and mountain lions I had a Marlin 30/30 rifle. I also had a Colt 45 Gold Cup that I shot at a range to learn how to handle a gun. Now that I don't need either of them they have been sold.

Before anyone gets a gun they should watch Bowling For Columbine.

so what licence's do you need to buy a gun in your country or state? I live in the Uk and they've just passed laws making it even harder to buy pellet guns & replicas...... and how do you stand in using them in self defence if a druggy breaks into your house here and you hurt him chances are he can take you to court and prosecute YOU! Seriously.

I'd rather turn my guns on myself than see that malarky. Michael Moore is a gasbag who, if stuck with a pin, would fly around the room until he ended up on the floor as three pounds of wrinkled hot-dog skin and a sweat-stained ballcap. And if he is a balloon, that would mean that his penis is twisted in a tight little knot.

Jakke PNG 01-28-2003 08:56 AM

I had a Jericho 9mm. No longer. I don't need a gun.

Juicy D. Links 01-28-2003 08:57 AM

Yes, but I'm glad I have not had to use it.

But it is fun for shooting beer cans :ak47:

Blaze 01-28-2003 09:29 AM

Everyone should have a gun.

So what is your point... do you have one our do you just want to demonstrate your indulgence.

Being a resident of the great State of Arizona I always have a gun. You never know when a cactus will attack from the rear. Or even worse when a pack of gun toting vigilanties will think I am a wetback (Mexican illegal) crossing the street and try some target shooting.

Damn it's easy to get a gun here, you go into a gun store fill out a form and if they do not find a felony record you can walk out with what ever you want.

If you carry a CCW permit you don't even fill out a form.

heh, license? what do you mean? you only need a carry permit (at least in WA state) if you're going to carry it concealed (as i recall). but you don't need a license or permit to buy or own a gun, or ammo.

Handguns, yes
Rifles, yes
shotguns. yes

automatic weapons not that easy they require a sign off from the Sherriff and a tax stamp from the ATF. Never tried that. I think the Sherriff refuses most of those unless you can show a reason to have a full auto.

Grenades no, hard to justify for hunting or self defense.

I checked into buying a paintball gun for this (+ they ARE fun!) and no, you cannot use them for self-defence. The only thing you can use is something readily available to hand (without being silly - no one normally keeps a baseball + bat in the bedroom) or the weapon your attacker was using when you disarmed him. Fire extinguishers are readily available to me (4 in the house). Get a dry powder one - breathing a load of that is going to fuck you right off and they're a good weight too :winkwink:

I have a 22 rifle that's next to the door and a 38 that's either next to my bed, in my car, or in my pocketbook (depending on where I am :winkwink: ) I'm in the process of buying another 38 because I'm tired of moving this one around all the time!

Yes, they're registered, yes I know how to shoot them, and yes, I have a license to carry a concealed weapon. :thumbsup

Got bleach? Got ammonia? Got any paper clips and electrical outlets in your home?

Having a gun in your home is no different than having any other potentially lethal chemical, object, powertool, over the counter medication, etc. in your home. You have to be responsible with it.

It is good to know that you aknowledge your lack of ability to properly take precautions with a firearm in a particular situation and are thereby unwilling to take that risk. Kudos.
