Life in prison for the Free6 guys

According to a major newspaper in Sweden, the two guys behind Free6.com was found guilty of human trafficking and thus sentenced to life in prison in the Phillipines.

Swedes convicted of trafficking in brothels: Fabricated accusations

Swedes Andreas Solemo, 35 and Stefan Sederholm, 31, hoped to be released after the trial in the Philippines.

Cathedral yesterday: life imprisonment - for both.

The Swedes were arrested two years ago following a crackdown on an internet brothel in Cagayan de Oro. They have been detained since then on suspicion of human trafficking.

- This appeal came as a complete shock, when even lawyers were confident that they would be acquitted, "said Stefan Sederholm brother.
Had cyber sex

The two IT technicians Andreas Solemo and Stefan Sederholm was involved in an internet brothel where customers paid to see scantily clad women posing in front of Web cameras, so-called cybersex. The Swedes were arrested when police raided the brothel Internet.

- It's fabricated accusations against us, "said Solemo when Aftonbladet spoke to him in prison before the appeal.

Some 20 women posed in front of webcams. Those who paid the equivalent to a dollar a minute could chat and see the scantily clad women live all over the world on their computers.

According to the Swedes, they had not, however, with the women to do.
"Just be consultants'

- We were engaged only to help with the technical data as consultants. And we found out that cybersex was legal before we committed ourselves. We also know that women made good money with the Filipino dimensions, says Sederholm.

According to police investigation, the women were not allowed to leave the premises during their shifts. Something that made the crime classified as human trafficking (trafficking).
Will appeal

According to Stefan Sederholm's brother, the decision will be appealed.

- Yes, it will happen within weeks. But right now I am not able to talk about this when I feel like our whole family was hit by a nuclear bomb, "he says.

The Court states:

"Foreigners should not abuse our hospitality during a temporary stay in the country and make it a haven for their criminal activities. Anyone who violates a woman's dignity by taking advantage of her vulnerability can expect severe penalties. Lack of respect for Filipino women and our laws deserve the strongest condemnation by this court, "writes the Regional Court in Cagayan de Oro in its ruling, and imposes life imprisonment for the two Swedes.

Three Filipinos convicted as accomplices to 20 years imprisonment each.
Was arrested at his hotel

--------------------------------------
April 23, 2009: Some 30 policemen strikes against a local in Cagayan de Oro in the Philippines. Some 20 scantily clad women are found. Several pose in front of webcams. Computers and cameras seized. Swedes arriving by air the same day and arrested at his hotel.

May 2009: The Swedes arrested on suspicion of human trafficing - human beings - and placed in the notorious prison Lumbia.

February 2011: The main hearing is held with the two Swedes and three Filipinos suspected of having committed the same crime.

May 10, 2011: Judgement issued by Judge Jeoffre W Acebido of Misamis Oriental Regional Trial Court Branch 41: "Life imprisonment" for Andrew Solemo and Stefan Sederholm. The three Philippines, 20 years in prison each.

Holy shit. I knew they had cracked down but this sounds ridiculous. take note of the 2 years in prison before trial(if you can call it that).

natkejs 05-11-2011 02:39 AM

They were just running another webcam studio? Sounds like they forgot to pay their bribes.

Although in the Swedish articles they mentioned a lot of the girls being underage so I dunno..

TeenCat 05-11-2011 02:41 AM

first of all i would not make any porn business in philipines and like countries, i bet they knew what they can face but they was unlucky ... but, sad for sure, life in prison, no life ...

Internet User 05-11-2011 02:42 AM

brassmonkey 05-11-2011 02:43 AM

Markul 05-11-2011 02:47 AM

As far as my understanding goes, they were there to open up a web cam division for their site and got caught. The police might have thought/figured out it that they were more than just IT consultants in the operation. But there is also a clear part where the sentence seems a bit hard, to serve as a warning to scare off anyone else who'd like to try. That part may very well be appealed if not the whole judgement.

Police swooped on the gang's den, located in the southern town of Kauswagan, in 2009. They discovered 17 underage girls naked in front of webcams chatting to foreign clients, the report said.

That they are stupid to set something like this up in the Phillipines is one thing.
Lifelong is very very long, that might be too much.
But if it is true they where using underage girls, than they are fine where they are now.

mikesinner 05-11-2011 03:28 AM

They don't care about the half dozen other cam programs run out of their country even though some of them have over 200 Filipino girls on at once because they are not run by foreigners.

Sad but true, they are very prejudice when it comes to this.

Also if the government was to investigate the biggest one of these on the right day they would find at least a few underage girls. They just didn't pay their bribes.

Or maybe one of their competitors was capable of paying a larger bribe than them. Or who knows, maybe some of the cops had a vested interest in other cam sites in the Philippines, and didn't like these guys cutting in on their action. That type of thing happens all the time in Asia, so wouldn't surprise me.

Harmon 05-11-2011 03:38 AM

If what the authorities is saying is true, as far as the part of them not being able to leave during a shift, then I say they deserve some sort of punishment. Life in prison? No. But something.

Nicky 05-11-2011 03:44 AM

Life-time is kinda harsh don't ya think? Let them be on trial in Sweden and get 3-5 years or something. I remember speaking to Stefan back in the day, seemed like a nice guy. If they were using underage girls(or didn't bother to check if they were) they deserve some prison time. Maybe not life though....

charlie g 05-11-2011 03:55 AM

I tend to agree that the proper payments were not made to the right sources. Either way that is a fucked up sentence.

cooldude7 05-11-2011 03:56 AM

i just noticed there site is on tubeace.

AnimeFevers 05-11-2011 03:57 AM

Another life imprisonment thread, damn!

DWB 05-11-2011 03:59 AM

IMHO, many of the Filipino cam studios are shit stains. Lots of underage workers, many of them don't pay the girls properly and/or cheat them. Stories of them being forced to work all day. A lot of fucked up things coming out of there. I don't know if these guys were involved in any of that or not, but it sounds like they may have been.

We all know the risks working in the adult biz and doing so in some of these countries. If you get caught, you get caught. You have to deal with whatever comes your way.

Life sounds a wee bit harsh, but they were playing a dangerous game. Life in a Filipino prison would not be worth living.

sitesurfer70 05-11-2011 04:01 AM

I hope this is just for show and the Philippines government is using this "big show" to deter other foreigners trying to open cam studios in the Philippines. Is really not surprising if the 2 Swedes will walk out from the prison after some money has exchanged hands after a while.

Sometimes is hard to check if the girls are underage or overage as getting fake id is not a big issue here. There are literally thousands of bars that caters for the locals using underage girls. Oh well, is hard to go against a corrupted government who does not listen to logic and 24/7 hypocritical. I hope I will not get to see the story of these 2 Swedes on National Geographic's Locked Up Abroad.

So what's worse, life in prison for being caught four times selling pot ?

https://gfy.com/showthread.php?t=1021895

Or life in prison for exploiting vulnerable women and employing underage talent ?

Life in prison for drugs, sex, what's next rock and roll?

.

Shey 05-11-2011 05:23 AM

It's pretty hypocritical and racist in the Philippines when it comes to foreigners. You'll see hundreds of girls working at the "girly bars" that are most likely underage but those bars are owned by locals so all is good, they pay the right people. It's EXTREMELY hard for a foreigner to even be associated with "girly bars" but if they do, they will get fucked over sooner or later. Not saying that the underage thing is cool but the girls are experts at faking ID's, hell you can buy ID's and driver's licenses here with just a few bucks.

czarina 05-11-2011 05:30 AM

I keep saying it: it's not worth it to risk your life and freedom in countries where porn is illegal!

L-Pink 05-11-2011 05:33 AM

In another thread Philippine officials state that many of the girls were underage in which case they got what they deserve.

beerptrol 05-11-2011 05:41 AM

I guess they didn't get the memo that it's a risk to do porn in the Phillipines, thailand, etc. Or maybe they were willing to take the risk cause it is cheap and means more profit for them.

I'm thinking about setting up a webcam studio along the afghanistan and pakistan border.I heard it's cheap there.

BlackCrayon 05-11-2011 06:02 AM

don't be surprised when you get burned playing with fire.

TheDA 05-11-2011 06:44 AM

The way the phil cam market works is different from other countries. Sometimes a whole family is crammed into a studio sized apartment. Often times the kids are in the next room if not right next to mom while she is doing the show.

Not saying that's right but that's the way all the cam sites work. The cops just decided to make it look this way to kill the competition. I seriously doubt they would be dumb enough to purposely use underage models.

Whereas the comments here, which complain about the Philippines enforcing laws they see fit in their own country and not allowing foreigners to come along and exploit their people because they are poor and don't have the opportunities people in the west do (mini imperialism), that's fine? I mean, their institutions are corrupt, so that excuses foreigners going there and taking advantage of people who need help?

Jailing someone for going to a different country to exploit poverty stricken women or girls in an illegal sex operation seems like a better reason for life than stealing a slice of pizza, as happens in the USA.

If they're so good at faking IDs, how do you know that "hundreds" of girls are "most likely" underage? You can't have it both ways. You either know or you don't know. And your complaint about "racism" is simply because Filipinos can get to exploit underage girls but white guys can't? Wow, life is so unfair.

Exploited women? You mean whores who believe that just because they have half decent looks it entitles them to not try to survive while retaining dignity? The ridiculous argument that they are from a poor country is just that - ridiculous. We live in an information age, not industrial one anymore. The whole world is interconnected with the information superhighway which offers everyone equal opportunities to make a decent living. Granted, because the opportunities are equal, virtually everybody in the world, whether they are from Bangladesh, India, Ukraine or a country you haven't even heard of is your competition. That makes for a very competitive platform which means that you really have to work hard and study all the time to continuously improve and make yourself stand out.

But these vulnerable, exploited women can't be bothered to dedicate their lives to constant learning and improving, trying and then trying again to make it in that competitive world. They figured that they had decent enough looks and no dignity so why not make it easy and earn a living not having to constantly study and learn to improve. What would they do if they were not attractive? What if easy webcam money was not an option? Vulnerable, exploited women my ass. They are whores because being a whore is an easy option that doesn't require much on their part - for as long as they have decent enough looks.
