2011 - the end of the world - looks more real each day

flooding in more and more countries.

the economy going belly up.

bird flu

birds dropping dead out of the sky

at what point will we realise the end has begun.

the ice is melting at bothg poles.

water level rises.

land goes under water.

BlackCrayon 01-14-2011 06:22 AM

i'm sure lots of people thought the end of the world was near when everyone was dropping dead from the plague too. one thing you can pretty much bet on, if there is any 'end of the world' it will be caused by man.

DEA - banned for life 01-14-2011 06:26 AM

not that i disagree..but you also have to take into consideration..the technological world we live in today allows us to know just about everything that happens across the planet..50 and 100 years ago people in the usa would not hear about every flood or earthquake or flock of bird that fell from the sky.. there was no cnn or fox news or history channell or internet or youtube or..gfy :) :(

DWB 01-14-2011 06:31 AM

The mass animal deaths troubles me a little, as does the insane flooding taking place around the globe. Every flood is "the worst" that area has ever seen. The winters are now "the coldest" and the summers "the warmest" and so on. It seems everything is more extreme.

Not that I lose sleep about it, but there is something going on. No doubt about that. Also no doubt the GFY crew will have the answers to these problems.

People have short memories and also love to think that any current situation they are experiencing is better* than anything that happened before.

Better as in more extreme rather than nicer.

Caligari 01-14-2011 06:54 AM

hardly the end of the world, the world will be around for quite a long time.

humans have this silly anthrocentric view of owning the planet but in reality we are all just renters with no contract...

The earth has been evolving for over 4 billion years this ain't new and there's nothing we can do about it PERIOD !

"All the things happening" like you're saying, has been happening over and over for billion of years. It's just that now with the media and internet, we know about every fucking single event around the globe.

Hell, you can get out of streets and become an instant millionnaire in less than 24 hours these days (golden voice)

biskoppen 01-14-2011 07:59 AM

The worlds needs a good clean up anyways.. way too many people here, and way too many of them are bad people

Let's reset!

Stop listening to the scare-mongering media. It's not like bad shit has never happened before.

It's called the effects of climate change. For the masses of dead animals, almost all happened in highly industrialized & polluted areas of the world. The extremes of weather can be blamed on global warming / climate change. Fuck with mother nature, and she'll fuck you back 10 times harder.

BS. China is probably the most polluted country on earth and there are only two reports from there. Russia and India are also both very polluted yet there are no reports from Russia and very few from India. Also no reports from Japan.

The more likely explanation is that all of these reports are coming from countries with media outlets that love to hype up shit out of nothing and manufacture controversy and hysteria.

Rochard 01-14-2011 09:44 AM

I had breakfast at McDonalds this morning. I'm guessing we are fine, because when the end of the world is near that's gonna be the first thing to go - breakfast at McDonalds.

Tom_PM 01-14-2011 09:54 AM

It reminds me of "the summer of the shark" where the media reports of shark attacks was way up.. but shark attacks were not actually way up. They were down a bit. The world is a smaller place, with instant news 24/7. Chalk some of it up to that.

Or maybe "killer bees". Remember when africanized honey bee's were crossed with the more docile bee's making a race of killer bee's that was set to destroy mankind in 1979 or whenever?

100 years ago people didn't hear about global news in real time like they do today but they did record it on paper to be preserved in history. So when a statement like " This is the worst flood in recorded history " is made it should be of some concern. You have the ability to compare events in recorded history with current events.

even though your a douche this brings up a good point

Unlike our ancestors, modern humans will survive just fine in just about any disaster short of an asteroid hitting, a plague of some kind, or aliens showing up to eat our brains.

I'm more worried about the complete idiots that will go ape shit around 12/21/12 than I am the "end of the world"

iwantchixx 01-14-2011 10:50 AM

I think there's a much more realistic explanation at hands.

Polar Shift.

Look at where snow is getting heavier and areas that are seeing less snow with more coastal flooding. It's proven that the earth magnetic north pole wobbles throughout the year give or take 40KM. The center of that wobble (ironically) has already shifted roughly 40km towards Siberia. Tilt the earth crust to compensate on a global map and you'll see where the weather and climate was already affected.

These shifts happen every however many 1000's of years or so. I've seen some documentation showing the predicted new north pole will be dead center Siberia by 2025, some models show even sooner. This can throw off migration paths already, throw off coastal levels and even throw off jet streams. Sure maybe the bulk of the change may start happening in 2012, but It's coincidental.

The Mayans were talking about something totally different that is only now showing how it relates to polar shift. Planet Nimbus' arrival which nasa has already hypothesized it be a supernova of sorts, not a planetoid as we recognize one but a large solid mass that is collapsing upon itself with intense gravity forces.

Biblical and scientific history have many similarities that show this theory is a strong possibility. It's theorized (man that's such a loose word) that Nimbus has large amounts of red dust particles that will enter our solar system during it's swing by us and the sheer gravitational forces of the mass will stop earth from turning for 3 straight days. Night for 3 days one side, day for 3 days the other side. In theory, waters and sky will turn to red temporarily as it did in biblical history. The pole will complete it's shift and there will be immense flooding in areas that are at or below sea levels. When people prepare themselves for this, people will survive with no issues. There's just not enough "proof" or actual "facts" to prove these things will happen but when it's known exactly what and when anything will happen then mankind will prepare and survive.

Mankind is already building higher and vital computer systems, electrical generation stations and defense systems are already magnetically shielded (for other reasons) to protect from the final shift of the pole.

We have received massive flooding in our area of eastern Canada this past 10 years.. people are already building higher to salvage their homes during these floods.

Don't worry, the end of the world isn't coming... just the end of the landscape "as you know it". I for one look forward to our warmer climate here and maybe it's time other parts of the world experience the winter wonderland we used to.

It's too bad that the shift wouldn't wipe out all personal electronics though, I think mankind could benefit greatly from having to fend for themselves again.

* disclaimer. These are just beliefs of my own based on all the scientific data freely available online, in news print and in statistical data. Though, many actions are in place already by governing bodies that support this theory.

Flame away!

Gotta love the Aflockalypse theories

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010%E2...death_even ts

Short version - Mass animal deaths are not that rare. Just became "news worthy" recently and then reporters went looking for related news. If you really think the world is ending and you are still spending time on GFY I suggest you re-evaluate some things. Seriously, what are you going to do when 2012 comes and goes and you are still here? When is the next "end of the World"?

MEDIA coverage is the only thing that has grown...Australia's floods are not worse than the one they had in the 70s and not even close to the one from the late 1800s
