Marketing tips?

I have an eclectic mix of business ventures and a question that pertains to them all. I'm having difficulty increasing my customer bases and overall sales. I create a number of products that I sell in online marketplaces, however, I've neglected the marketing aspect of my business for a few years now.

My products range from published books, graphic designs, handmade trinkets (think Etsy), and of course my adult clips and mp3s.

Currently, my marketing consists of creating the product with references back to my links so they can always get more, links in the product descriptions for similar products, email marketing via my newsletter and site lists (i.e. C4S customer list), press releases for new websites/products, conventions with business cards that I hand out in the hundreds, and typical social media (Twitter and IG) but that's wearing thin for my adult works. I've even tested out making daily cheap products vs higher quality weekly ones, but that didn't seem to make much difference overall.

My obstacles are that I simply don't get marketing and I don't have hundreds to pay someone to do it for me. I've done countless hours of research, and I couldn't tell you my ideal customer profile. There are some tips I've received and have found my business profits tripling, but again it plateaus then drops. I feel like it's causing me to scatter my efforts and lose quality in my products.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Any thing would be helpful. And please understand that as this account is linked to my adult works, I will not be sharing the specifics of my vanilla works.

Hi there, I have a tiny experience that I can share from my new vanilla PPC campaign management job, and it can relate to many walks of e-commerce, or online marketing.
I usually ask myself what is considered a conversion on my website, and how much is its value. For example a sale of a trinket is a conversion that can be measured in a sale, however signing up for a news letter is another, and so forth.

In addition, I would take each channel and product and setup a Key Performance Indicator. For example I had an e-commerce clothing customer that I walked through how to set attainable goals. We realized that an SEO project is long and expensive, and that generating direct sales from clicks on links may not be cost effective. Instead we made a strategy to promote her existing content to new look alike crowds on Instagram. That resulted in more people looking for her store on Google, after being exposed on IG. She's not growing exponentially, but her IG account is no longer marketing to get likes from friends, family, or people who already bought her products online. She's growing slowly but steadily with paid social media campaigns.
I consider myself a Junior marketer, so feel free to take everything I share with a grain of salt

Hello,
I Suggest you focus more on web 2.0

1)Reddit: Build a Sub-reddit dedicated to your products, Bring traffic on it by guest posting in other sub reddits.

2) Youtube: Start Uploading SFW videos on YT & give links to your products in the description, This will also help you in Off-page seo & hence passing the relevant link juice.

3) Twitter is also helpful to create a healthy community surrounding NSFW content.

Pro Tip: If you are a girl, start streaming on Twitch, promote your products,
It has proven wonders for some female marketers ou there.

Good luck!

I'm working on the same thing atm. For me, it all boils down to providing value, isntead of "selling".

For instance, I was (am) selling photoshoot events for photographers. I book a model, provide the material and coach the photographer.

What I did was create a youtube channel where I posted a vlog about photographer every week and every two weeks I did a photo review from other photographers that submitted their work. I also created a group around model photography that was focussed on learning.

This worked, after about 6 months. The problem was that I could not scale this and the amount of work I put into it, was too much in relation to what I got out of it.

Now I just started a website with boudoir and nude models in 3D VR180. I'm still in the early phase, just trying to get traffic in. I'm doing this by participating in facebook groups around virtual reality and with a youtube channel with Virtual Reality video's of behind the scenes footage of my phoothsoots (it's like you're actually there, in the shoot). That channel has grown to 200 subscribers in 4 weeks and I average about 1K views per video. That's because I found a niche (I'm not saying those are great numbers, but the growth is very good I think).

I saw the tip about reddit. I don't know that medium very well, but I think indeed that works very well. One of my first video's got 11K views in just one week and I traced the source back to a post on reddit.

Forums provide that traffic for products I've noticed.

if you don't know your client profile then you dont know your clients - my #1 woulud be start there - ask your best customers why they buy what they do who they are, what pain you solved for them etc,

once you have that info your customers have basically written your marketing copy for you

then you just have to look as to where aree theree more of these people:
guest blogs, partnerships, podcasts - all can reach a lot of niche audiences-

Hello, reading your post I could not help but feel like I was reading my own story from a couple years ago LOL

If I'm understanding what you said correctly, the first thing that comes to the Forefront of my mind, and I have definitely been guilty of this before, he said it appears as though you have entirely too many irons in the fire, and you haven't yet given any one of them the individual attention necessary to discover the best and most effective method for each one, especially considering how very different each one of them is from one another and how incredibly different each Target customer persona profile would be from the next in that list of products and services.

Before even getting into which method would be best for which, the best suggestion I can give you although it may seem counterintuitive, is to focus your efforts and a tension on 1 of these product Heights at any given time for now, this is to allow yourself to more effectively and efficiently discover identify and ultimately implement the most effective method for that particular product and the best medium to reach your target customers for that particular product.

The difficult part of this will be the trial-and-error process of discovering and identifying the right method and communication channels for each one of these very different products, and I can tell you right now the answer to most effective for each one respectively will be very be very unlikely to be all that similar to one another with an eclectic of a list.

However, that being said, once you do find that effective marketing channel and method for your first product you will already have the hard part done for that product and simply therefore reduced all the time and energy you would have spent spinning your wheels with little to no results all the way down to what would most likely be a simple action or two that you may even be able to automate on a daily basis meaning you can now repeat the investigation discovery and identification methodology on product number 2 common and once you have found the most effective solution for that one on to the next.

Although your instincts may tell you to tackle Everything at Once immediately, ultimately mastering each sales funnel one at a time therefore getting a fuller deeper understanding have it will ultimately save you countless hours of valuable time, make you a lot more money, and open you up to new opportunities by reducing 10 hours of untargeted Chaos that you would most likely have attempting to sort out and put together 5 jigsaw puzzles who's pieces are hopelessly commingled as opposed to focusing on one fresh new untainted jigsaw puzzle at a time

Some good feedback here, as a Biz/Marketing Consultant in my mainstream life - you definitely want to dive in 70% on your main revenue generator get dialed in and hone that skill WELL, 1st. hait makes no sense doing 5 things if you're struggling at all 5, this is simply busy work and not working smarter - thus causing you stess & headaches. haI suggest recruiting a few bradn abassadors & partners for your ETSY busy and allow then a profit %, thereby having them generate sales while being incentivized & freeing up your time.

You should DEFINTIELY utilize reddit/Google some Youtube HOW TO vids.

Lastly, if you know you're not the right person to spearhead your businesses, then take the plunge and hire an outside marketer or consultant and bring them aboard as a partner. Test them with 1 product them slowly scale them up, if you see consistency & strong ROI.
