Looks like Google's anti webspam team has its priority set for Q1 2011. From Matt Cutts' Twitter feed:

Google will [look] more at cloaking in Q1 2011. Not just page content matters; avoid different headers/redirects to Googlebot instead of users.

I gave up on it pretty quickly. Had a buddy insisting I stick with it, I just couldn't see it though. It brings some traffic in, but meh. You're subject to get nailed & de-indexed at any time, and keeping up to date with the latest crawler IPs is a mild pain in the ass. You'd have to have a hell of a lot of resources poured into it to make it profitable I think. That isn't to say there aren't dedicated cloakers making fat stacks. You'd have to be churning out fucking pages like a mad man.

Nice set of posts. Things like this always worry me not because I cloak but more that I worry about getting caught up in it from unintended consequences somewhere from any number of other related practices.

So, you spam your site with xrumer/scrape, on every possible wordpress blog around the web?

Did that work for you? Just wondering. It doesn't seem like a solid plan to me.

Do you get 50K UNIQUES per day from Google?

It sends traffic, no doubt about that, but is the traffic any good, and is it worth your effort? I don't think so. I mean, it basically amounts to blind clicks. 50k a day from Google, probably not a big feat if you were a full time cloaker. But that's what it would take in my opinion, a full time dedication to the craft. You need to be pulling in a lot of traffic.

I don't know why I'd bother gracing your ass with a reasonable answer though, Isense a snide little bite to your response though. It seems you've got a fucking hardon for anyone who admits they dabble in blackhat. The whitehats scream for "long term" "long term". That's all fine ad dandy, but what you don't see is the value of short term gains. You think the smart blackhats don't know they are dabbling in short term strategies with a shelf life? Keep going, new sites, new servers, wash it rinse it repeat it. It's as long term a strategy as the next. If you think sponsors aren't as happy with the sales generated via this type of method as whatever the hell you're doing, you're wrong.

Looking at cloaking for search revenues...

Go to Klik Vip... Notice only a few of the elite 10 to 12 webmasters out of the 10,000's there actually make elite money... Unless you are going balls to the wall and employ people to making you money even while you are sleeping, you won't amount to more than gas money and perhaps some groceries.

google wants shitty results, it makes their ads more usefull.

Google could eliminate 99% of cloaked content almost instantly.

let's say we both sell camel shoes, we both start whitehat camel shoe stores. I also start 1 blackhat site and spam it with xrumer etc and send the traffic to my whitehate store. I will do better than you guaranteed, soon i will be outbuying your adspots and outtrading your partners. IF by chance by blackhat site gets busted , i am just back to being even with you, nothing to lose.
