You are 200% correct, never know what to expect and when.

When dealing with money transactions, both parties being within the U.S, it would be much easier to either charge back for a refund if something happens and the buyer gets stiffed.

It worked out in my favor because I made him sign up for paypal, which I know the system very well and I do a large amount of business with them on the daily. He finally agreed, signed up, i funded the project and he vanished. It's just annoying, all i wanted was something done, than i lost time, lost time, but in the end i just retrieved funding, but still lost time.
