I wrote you on april 15, 1999 to give you accurate information about age of consent in Spain. However you
seem to have prefered the opinion of somebody who wrote you contradicting my information on october 26,
1999. Well, I insist that the age of consent was risen from 12 to 13 in the winter of 1999.

About the newspaper translation of a sentence from Valencia, dated november 25, 1999, it does not change
anything and it does not contradict the fact that age of consent was risen to 13. At the time when the
sentence was written the age of consent was already 13, but during the summer of 1998, when the judged
facts took place, age of consent was still 12. Thus following the basic principle that nobody can
be condemned for something that was not illegal when he/she did it, the judge wisely condemned these
two men only for the sexual relations they had had with the 9 years old boy and considered that there
was no reason to condemn them for having sexual relations with the others, being the youngest 12.
Thus the sentence is in my humble opinion totally correct in this aspect, and I insist, it does not
contradict the fact that age of consent was risen to 13.

It could be argued that these little presents and the small quantities of money that these two men gave
the boys are a way of buying their will and thus constitute a sexual abbuse offence, but for whatever
the reasons, I suppose the mentioned friendship and the little real value of the presents, the judge
decided there was not enough evidence to condemn for this. I do not have an opinion on this aspect of the
sentence.

So please change the figure in the chart, Spanish age of consent is 13 for all kinds of couples.

Being able to make a decision to have sex is totally different then making a decision to have sex in front of a camera- look at legal working ages vs. age of consent.

Most of these laws were started when at 18 if you weren't married and had at least one or two kids you were a spinster - but then people didn't live past 40....

ok.........I agree that it all comes down to the way different cultures view sex. But really the bottom line is that those people and countries that think that people under certain ages shouldn't have sex are trying to make a statement about a part of many individuals' lives that is very personal. Who is any body to tell anybody wether or not they can share their most personal expressions with someone based on the 2 peoples ages? I think most of us in this world, especially in America have, have supressed the fact that our sexuality during youth is very active and strong and filled with urges to experiment and have sexual practice more than any other time of our life. I think the real reason that people have become sexual offenders around the world is because they have been denied the freedom to express themselves sexually. Sexuality is a form of expression that we should be 100% free to express to anybody of any age no matter what as long as both people, as human beings, consent to it. Forget about age altogether. Rape is rape and it's wrong and is and should always be punishable to the fullest measure but 2 people of any age willing to express themselves to each other so intimately and personally is a beautiful thing. Freedom of expression! If any human being is old enough to want it, then they're old enough to have it. If we could forget about the whole age thing and just convict rapists of their terrible crimes then I think there would be a lot more love in the world.

Let me also add that all people no matter how young or old they are have sex for all the same reasons throughout life.
1. they love the person they're with.
2. they wanna feel loved.
3. for pure pleasure (strong physical attraction to there partner)
4. Some people have sex to fill a void that ssems to be missing in their life.
5. Some people have sex to feel excepted .....maybe they don't feel too good about themselves so they use sex as a remedy to make them feel better.

This list of reasons could easily go on and on but it's foolish to believe that these reasons are different from one age to another.

Which leads me to a good point: Maturity has nothing to do with sex.

Even older people have sex for seemingly immature reasons not just mature ones.

There is a question thats burning my thounge, How young could the girls be on a paying website in these countries like Spain, or African countries or South American ones.

I did not know there was such laws (like in spain, the improvement from 12 to 13 for sex) which is rather a joke. We have statutory rape laws because sex feels good. Let me explain: Most people who know nothing about incest and child abuse assume that the child is an unwilling victim. Hmm the old ridge runners used to work their wives to death by 18... JLL was a runner.

19th century folks were pretty old at 30, so I guess they had to have their own kids early to get em raised.

Nowadays it seems like people want to just have *more* marriages for the short runs. An awful lot of men will be divorcing these young models when they catch wind that they were net models! You may *act* like it wouldn't matter but it will.

18 year olds just haven't a clue in life yet about reprecussions at 25 or 30 or even 40

The reprecussions of being an internet model are the same no matter what age you are.

I say let youth make any possible mistakes early in life because it's easier to fix when when your younger than when you're older and they will have experience behind them to back up what they learned in the past. And maybe what they learn will suprise us all.

Some things needed to be remembered here. In the US many girls at the age of 17/18 still act like ditsy HS cheerleaders. In outher countries though, you may have a 15/16 year old that is as mature as the normal maturity level of a US 24 yr old. This has to do with upbringing, experience, and cultural attitude
