Great Post, What do you think about content sites where the models provide the content ( through scheduled shoots etc) and the site provides the traffic, hardware and business model?

Throckmorton 06-20-2013 03:46 PM

Thanks. This is thought-provoking info for a newbie.

Thanks for all the information! I'm still new to this and currently have my own solo/girl pay site. It's definitely a challenge with everything, but it's a great learning experience at the same time. I would love for you to check out my site and any feedback you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

Thanks for the suggestions! This was very well written and very helpful. I have been shooting amateur fetish and BDSM content for about a year now and being in the lifestyle myself, it was a natural transition. The only problem I come up with sometimes is coming up with something we have not done before. I am thinking about actually doing some scripted movies etc and I have made content with another couple who is in the lifestyle to do something like that. Thanks again for the pointers!

I'm just beginning in adult world and this writing's very useful. I'd like to do mostly with affiliate programs and not with personal sites. I see it only for part time work together with one of my first job (link building for adult sites). I have to make some free sites and blogs to that as well and I want to earn some plus money if can. I'm here (on the forum) to learn and also this writing's to that exactly. Thanks

Good to read a positive post about getting into the industry apposed to so many around the web that say the industry is dead which it is not... sure its not easy and you need something new, original, or exclusive. We unfortunately could not start with free sites but had a decent understanding from back in the 90's of how things worked although the learning curve to catch back up wasn't fun. We do convert at a mid 1/000 triple digits steady so you can still build successful sites ... just be prepared to work hard!

There are a vast multitude of reasons as to why that is, and as many opinions as there are people in the industry ? but regardless, the fact remains...it is quite a bit more difficult to enter this industry and succeed than it used to be. Keep your expectations low and treat this business as you would any other. Don't be fooled by the glam and the glitz...it takes a tremendous amount of time, effort, money, blood, sweat and tears to make yourself a part of that glitz and glam ? it doesn't happen easily, and it doesn't happen quickly. The people that enjoy it today earned it the hard way, and you'll have to do so as well. In short: Plan in advance ? have options to work with, keep some capital aside to sustain yourself while your site develops and grows into something profitable ? keep your expectations low, but aim high

Is it possible to set your expectations too low? I want to do some amateur content production to one day release on a clip store, pay site or sell the rights to outright. I have no delusions of getting rich off of this; if I can make enough profit to pay off my modest rent while I keep my day job, I'll be happy. Is that a reasonable expectation?

Might it also be beneficial for someone to set a financial limit for themselves? Like, a pledge to quit once they spend a certain amount of money that there's no likely hope of earning back?

For example, I've pledged to devote no more than $30,000 to this over the next 3 years. Once I've spent $30,000 and am not close to earning any of it back, I'm out. Think that is a good idea?
