Try putting her former Facebook address into archive.org and see what pops up

That is why i turned off public display of birthday on FB in order to prevent birthday spam.

About four years ago I put in a friend request to a chick I used to date years ago. She accepted my request, but rarely posted, and never responded to me. After a year I noticed on her birthday her husband posted saying that he missed her. I didn't know her husband well - we met while we were in the Marines - but I hit him up and asked.... Turns out she had died from cancer about a year after we friended each other.

I keep her on my FB just as a reminder.

Oddly enough I've become friends with her daughter.

@ op, maybe contact facebook, you don't want to unfriend him & maybe everyone's thinking similar. Although, isn't it nice remembering your friends birthday anyway?

I'm fine with reminders but what I don't like is when family members take it on themselves to "maintain" the profile and make updates on their behalf and continually post from their profile to theirs of how they miss them or whatever.

FB is the worst now. No one uses it. Only SnapChat. And you don't have to worry about dead people popping up.
