Republicans now demand the Mueller report not be released to the public

Since Barr's summary of Mueller's report proved there's evidence of Trump obstructing justice, Republicans now wanted to Mueller report sealed from public View.

After a 420-0 vote in the House for full transparency of the Mueller report and requesting a be released to the public, Republicans are now demanding the Mueller report never be released.

Republicans back peddle on call for transparency of Mueller report: Washington Post

Washington Post columnist James Downie called out the GOP for back peddling on their sentiment that the full Mueller report should be released.

“A little more than a week ago, the House of Representatives voted 420-0 to recommend a public release of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s report,” Downie wrote. This call for transparency was so unobjectionable that even the four Republicans who didn’t want to vote for the resolution voted ‘present.'”

However sense Barr released his report to the public, Republicans have said enough information was given after the report said: “did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.”

“Since Mueller sent his report to Barr on Friday, though, many Republicans have suddenly become more reluctant about transparency,” he said.

He explained that there are still a lot of unanswered questions.

“Mueller may not have indicted anyone else because there wasn’t any evidence. But it also could be because Roger Stone, Paul Manafort and others lied and/or refused to cooperate, because rules about classified evidence hinder making the case, or because, under Justice Department policy, he couldn’t indict a sitting president,” he said.

Adding, “It’s hardly surprising that Trump’s most committed defenders might not want a full airing of the report. They may see Mueller’s decision not to issue any more indictments for conspiracy with Russians over the 2016 election as vindication.”

He went on to explain that the full release of the report could “reveal more damaging information.”

Why do Republicans now want the Mueller report sealed from public view after voting unanimously last week to have the Mueller report released to the public?

Reports are coming in it has to do with this:

"While this report does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him" on whether he obstructed justice, Mueller said in the report, according to Barr's summary.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation "did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities" during the 2016 campaign, he wrote in his final report. Attorney General William Barr summarized the report's findings in a letter to lawmakers Sunday.

President Trump declared victory shortly after the summary was released, claiming it was a "complete and total exoneration."

"This was an illegal takedown that failed and, hopefully, somebody's going to be looking at the other side," Mr. Trump told reporters in Florida before boarding Air Force One.

Democrats, Republicans react to special counsel's findings

In his letter, Barr said Mueller described the facts surrounding his investigation into allegations of obstruction of justice but made no determination as to whether Mr. Trump committed a crime, deferring the question to Barr. The report "does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him," Barr quotes Mueller as writing.

But Barr said he and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein determined the available evidence was insufficient to establish Mr. Trump had obstructed justice.

Mueller did not find Trump campaign "conspired" with Russia/

It's not up to anyone's demands... It's DOJ rules not to release.. Barr will not be swayed in that.

Yet... The same exact article you posted says the following...

No one seems to know what the report says. All we have is what the AG sent Congress which says "does not exonerate him".

I don't believe Mueller's task was to say if Trump committed a crime or not. Meller's job was to investigate, not decide innocence or guilt. For example, the police (and the FBI) investigate a crime and then turn the information over to the district attorney (or Attorney General) to decide if there is enough proof to file charges. Other people, such as Manafort, did in fact have indictments. However, this was part of the investigation and was used as a tool to get him (and others) to give truthful testimony. Also, Mueller did not indict them, but instead grand juries.

The investigation and Mueller's report is not to say "Trump did X and is guilty" but instead outlines what actually happened. It's up to the (Trump appointed) AG to decide if a crime was actually committed.

This is gonna be fun. This is easily drag out into the 2020 election.
