Laughing at somebody creating something new is very rude. Are you aware how much works creating something new, robust and secure involves?

We could have bought a tumblr clone for less than what we paid for our certificate but that's not the route we wanted to take.

There will be no replacement. Those people evolved and went to imgur a long time ago.

This is the correct answer. For some reason, some of you guys think there is a demand for a replacement to Tumblr. The answer is : no. There is not. Surfers don't need it.

For webmasters... sure... another place for us to spam our content is always fun, but without any traffic, its a waste of time for everyone.

I highly disagree. Tumblr has been getting me all kinds of traffic for years, and this recent terms of service change is pissing a lot of people off that are current members of Tumblr. Tumblr has an active and tenacious fan/user base, especially when it comes to porn. All of these people are looking for alternatives before this Dec. 12th deadline. There's absolutely tons of people posting their outrage over this.

If an alternative is built that allows you to import all of your posts from your Tumblr blog, the traffic would be almost immediate. And would only grow after that, given there’s few restrictions and the platform works well.

There are plenty of solutions to migrate your blog away from Tumblr. Thats not really an issue. The hard part is maintaining traffic to your blog once its no longer in the Tumblr-sphere.
