Yes indeed but recruiters dont really know for purpose of github, it was just some sort of fashion accepted by everyone.

I seriously don't get the price tag - The only thing I can think of is that MS will use it as some sort of talent spotting tool - Even then it seems craZy...

Any attempt by MS to change terms in their favor or similar will kill the site stone dead - They also know that so I wouldn't get exited by that threat - Strange.....

Then again they are Billionaires and I am struggling to pay my bills - They obviously know something I/we don't...

Just because someone is successful and made billions, it does not make him / it any less prone to investment mistakes. And microsoft did a lot of mistakes, for example they wasted 6 bil on ad network for which nobody ever heard, then 8 bil on nokia which is now almost out of business, and who knows what else.
