I'm reading the first collection of the graphic novels and the read is a much better experience so far.
Yeah, the original books are pretty good. They get REAL dark too, so I kinda had an idea from the begining they wouldn't be following them closely.
I think they will probably develop it like they did with Dexter, Take alot from the begining but go a completely different way once the foundation has been laid out.
This episode was a snoozer. They really drew out people's goodbyes, especially the last one by the tree. Fuck.
It's not a bad show, I do like it, I just wish they would have done something with the way they filmed it to stylize it. Like maybe shoot the whole thing like they shot the credits, or do some fast cuts, or something to give it a little more life. With Greg Nicotero you know the special effects are done well, but the cinematography is way too bland.

Oh man. Those sister goodbye scenes were hard to watch. Shes a fucking zombie now get over it. Did anyone else feel like they were watching the episode of Lost when the shutter door opened up. Reminded me of Locke banging on the hatch and the light coming on lol.
Hopefully this episode was just setting up something good for the last episode of the season.

I actually like that fact that they didn't do that. Look at Spartacus Blood and Sand for example... they turned it into something totally unwatchable.

Horribly handled. That shot of the door opening would have been tons cooler if we hadn't already had a look at the life of the guy inside.

True, you can go way too far with it. I guess if I had to choose between over done and under done I'd take the under. I just feel like it needs a little something to give it some flavor.

I liked it and think the characters are starting to actually develop beyond one note stereotypes.
Should I wait to read them or will it add to the enjoyment?

honestly, i thought this episode put the show back on the right track.
Not a single woman hating scene in the episode.
1st episode to do that i might add.
perhaps the writer is all done with his girl problems?
Still enjoying the show. tons of people apparently pissy that it isn't what they expected it to be. It's a drama with zombies, not a zombie show with drama. 6 episodes is not enough of a season, they're taking their time building up a story here, and it's appearing that the entire first season isn't really going to go anywhere interesting. One more episode in the season? Really? You need a good 4 or 5 episodes just to setup a good season of television. Look at Dexter for example. It has taken a good 4 or 5 episodes the last couple seasons before anything gets interesting. I had almost written this season of Dexter off completely after the first 4 episodes, now I'm caught right back up in it again. Having to wait until a second season of Walking Dead is done to get any story out of it is pretty fucking lame. That's the only real downfall to this one I can see.

I like the idea of a drama with zombies, but the writing and acting is pretty weak on this show with the possible exception of the first episode.

Thought this episode dragged on a little more than it had to... and yes, it would have been a lot more fun if you didn't know about the guy inside the building.
