Dodge's boss mulls reviving Barracuda muscle car

I found this and wanted to share, I would love to see a new cuda, My first car was a baracuda

Chrysler's design chief, who also happens to be boss of the Dodge brand, delivered a big surprise yesterday: He says he's seriously thinking of how to revive the Plymouth Barracuda.

"There's a lot of pressure on us to bring the 'Cuda back," said Ralph Gilles to the crowd that came to see the latest Mopar doings at the SEMA aftermarket parts show. In an interview with Drive On, he said, "The customers have been stomping their feet for it."

Never mind that the brand already has revived the Challenger, 'Cuda's corporate cousin. And it has the four-door performance-oriented Dodge Charger model, redone for 2011 and revealed at SEMA yesterday for the first time. But one problem with Barracuda is that its parent brand, Plymouth, doesn't exist anymore. The Barracuda name would have to be co-opted by Dodge or Chrysler, just as the Plymouth PT Cruiser became a Chrysler after the brand was killed.

But don't underestimate the power of the 'Cuda.

This muscle car looks cool. I like the shape without sharp corners.

I like the new Challenger - I think a new Barracuda would be great, but only if it resembles the old car and not the pictures I've seen floating around...

No, see... That's horrible. That looks more like the new Camaro than it does the original car.

My old man had a 67 Barracuda coupe. Cool car. If they do revive it, I hope they get inspired by the '60s model instead of the '70s Cuda. They might as well rebadge the Challenger if that's the case.

I'm still waiting for a Plymouth Duster revival - my first car.

They've pretty much done every incarnation on the wishlist with the new Challenger.

Of course you're right. I'd still buy a plastic POS Duster, though. Us old guys need nostalgia to keep us alive.

I have to look at it this way, you get the SRT model with the hemi, trick out the suspension and change the wheels and you have the spirit of what you use to run. The plastic will be acceptable at that point

My uncle built a 70 duster with a 440 magnum and 871 hampton blower on it, full roll cage, all tubbed out with a license plate that said DUZZTED

I have a 2010 Camaro and I almost sold it last week but changed my mind at the very last minute (was offered $36,000 cash). A friend down the street from me has a cool Dodge Charger. We glare at each other and rev our engines but have yet to race. Retro has always been cool and I bet a new Barracuda would sell very well.

impossible... they have yet to revive a real true hemi to drop in these bitches...

They will never be the same without the "heart" that once was.

You could put a nike swoosh on a pile of dog shit and youd have people running the courts leaving hanky streaks...
