Your fav sandwich recipes?
Lets hear some of your fav sandwich recipes, minus the fast food crap.
For starters, I like hookin up the cold cuts I get 2 slices of wholewheat bread and throw them in the toaster for a few minutes. While Im waiting on that, I throw two slices each of virginia baked ham, executive turkey, and roast beef on a plate and nuke that in the microwave for 20 seconds, then mix it up and do it again for another 20 seconds. Once thats all said and done, I slap the cuts on the bread, then I throw either american cheese or swiss cheese on there, plus mayonaise and honey mustard, crushed lettuce (and maybe a sandwich pickle if I have), then nuke it again for about 15 seconds. When thats all done Im chompin down on the hot sandwich goodness. Thats just the cold cuts. If you got slammin burger recipes or whatnot, lets hear em. As long as its a sandwich and you can eat it with your hands

Yea I mean microwave it, and yes the bread *can* get soggy, which is why I say 15 seconds. Hell, make it 10 or 5 and it should be fine

I'm going grocery shopping tomorrow, what's the best bread to make sandwiches? What kind of bread do you guys buy? I usually make sandwiches using just normal sliced white bread like
Wonderbread or Webers, are you guys using some kind of special bread or something?? I usually toast regular white bread and spread mayo on it, add on a slice of pastrami and swiss cheese, and that's it!! It doesn't taste that good, but good enough when you're hungry. I gotta try out some of the other recipes here and try nuking the sammich and stuff.. God I'm soooooo hungry!! |

Take two slices of white bread toast them until they just start to change color, at this point take them out of the toaster and put them in the refrigerator until they are cold (about two minutes) then apply margarine or butter to taste and no matter what you put inside it will taste great.

I think wholewheat bread is really good. Its kinda thick, and not flimsy like whitebread, and it taste oh so wholesome. Of course you can get rolls or buns or wedges, if you plan on making some really big sandwiches. edit: potato bread is pretty good too.

Triple 6,
I tried your recipe exactly, but just witout the lettuce, roast beef, and pickle , all on potato bread and it was sooo gooooood! Microwaving it for 15 seconds really melts the cheese and makes it soooo gooood. I will try some of the other recipes but some of them have ingredients that are too exotic, like capicolli that I don't think they have in my grocery stor! e |

Large sized wheat bread.
Thinly sliced brown sugar ham. One slice of swiss cheese. Mayo and mustard. Or, Peanut butter and jelly sandwich with Roman Meal wheat bread. Lots of Jif peanut butter, almost 1/4 inch thick. Lots of Welch's grape preserves. Followed with a glass of cold milk. |
