UGH! I am flying 'from'. I have been here since the 12th. However,I am coming back in April(ish) time for longer. I already mentioned to Baddog that would mind doing a small webmaster get together. I don't know if you remember Tofu (used to work for adult.com) but he is in this area too and we met up last night and he is still doing sites and up for it too. So, hopefully next time!

there have been reports of middle eastern men yelling "don't touch my junk" and being let on without a pat down. there we be a bomb going off on a plane because of this mark my words ...

if someone really wants to bring down a plane, they will find a way.

these scanners and grope sessions do nothing to prevent it.

If they want to put us through all of this they can at least give us a free checked bag.

i think what might work better is if the passengers patted each other down. sort of like those seminars or meetings where you shake the hand of the persons sitting beside you. that might help relieve some of the anxiety.

I was groped in London and Shannon back in 07 (I think that's when we were there??). And I've yet to know ANYONE who's gotten picked to be groped in the states. Many of my friends are disappointed :(

I was not given any other option than to go through the body scanner. I don't know what would have happened if I objected but I wasn't out and out given a choice, no.

Whilst completely acknowledging how ridiculous security in the US is and how annoying it is to even have to take off your shoes now, it's completely fascinating watching people complain about radiation from the machines. The ignorance shown is astounding.

Firstly, there are two types of machines, one doesn't use radiation, secondly, if you are worried about radiation, DON'T FLY. Complaining about backscatter imaging before flying is like complaining about the carcinogenic effect of the alcohol in one beer someone is forcing you to drink before you get to drink your 150 beers. Flying irradiates the shit out of you. Does no one know this?

Nobody is really given a choice. You have to outright request it. It isn't "open disclosure" like the TSA makes it sound in the news.

People, there will be no boycotting. There will be no protests. There will however be a ton of patriot terrorist scared people in line approving everything and anything the govt says is good for their safety. So do yourself a favor and accept everything they give you. The sooner the better.

What I don't however understand is why don't the evil bad terrorists blow up buses. Can you imagine having all the petting and scanning done before you enter a bus. The money spent on the safety...

In the past year and a half, $118 million in stimulus funds have been used to buy technology from Rapiscan, but all that money hasn't produced many jobs -- the ostensible purpose of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. In fact, it accounts for only 84 positions, according to a HuffPost analysis of government data, meaning roughly $1.4 million was spent to create each job.

Rapiscan has upped its lobbying expenditures in recent years, spending $271,500 so far this year compared to $80,000 five years ago, USA Today reports.

I would pick being molested. I don't trust that you won't get stuck in the scanner with it on giving you significantly more radiation than the designers intended. Think how many times you get stuck in the current metal detector because they tell you to come through and then some idiot does something in front of you
