Went into one of the local building materials supply houses yesterday to find that about 20% of the stuff had been relocated in favor of Christmas decorations and Christmas trees(All fake, of course!).

I'll counter it for you, since I agree with you in full. The santa crap can certainly wait until after Americans have had their thanksgiving.

Start the Christmas ads and hype too early and people are just downright sick of it by mid-December.
