I think it's pretty safe to say that most of us do not trust Congress and/or our government as a whole. Why are we so hellbent on handing over more money? I just don't get it.
Let's say, just for example, that the whole population agrees to a tax rate increase of 15%. Everyone. Rich, poor, everyone.
Do we really trust the government, as a whole, with that extra 15%? If you are Democrat, you will most likely not trust the Republicans. If you are Republican, you will most likely not trust the Democrats. Somebody you don't like is going to be in control of the money, regardless of which party is in power at any given date.
Why are we arguing so hard to give these people more money? We see what they did with the Social Security money... they spent it. It's all gone. Now we have to fix Social Security by paying more money, that they will just spend again. And again. And again. And that's just one example. If money is laying around, they spend it. That's how the government works. In my house, if money is laying around... it gets put into a safe spot so that it's available when it's really needed. Right now is one of those times where that money is really needed. And there's nothing there.

Actually when you consider how large government is it works pretty good. The old folks get their checks every month,they scream dont touch my medicare which is a government program. We have one of the greatest fighting forces in the world. Those who serve get thier college paid for. Thats government. Shit it was government that funded the creatation of the net. What is against their interest? The wealthy getting a "Tax break" does not help me UNLESS the government is irresposnsable and makes promises it can not keep and spends beyond its means. That is not the fault of the rich or poor getting to keep their money it is the fault of the government an no one else.
As far as the rich fucking up and feeling the pinch. There is enough blame from everyone on why the economy is in the dumps. The middle class extended their credit to much, then expected the government to help them when they fucked up. The rich made and were forced to make bad investments then expected the government to bail them out.

For those above that bracket, the tax breaks that went into effect under Bush, simply expire. The fact that they were set up to expire IS THE ONLY REASON THEY FUCKING PASSED TO BEGIN WITH!

Until you are making at least half a million bucks per year it is almost identical.
It is not until one MILLION dollars, that the tax break jumps all the way up to 10% of income earned, which is totally disproportionate to those of us in the REAL world!
