How long until weed in legalized in California?

I'm surprised it was that close in votes which tells me it's going to happen.

If the stoners would stop smoking for a day and get out and vote, it would have passed easily.

Personally, I like the way the system works right now. It's easy enough for those who really want to smoke to be legal and get their stash. But I'd like to see the taxing of it on a larger level to bail out California and probably the rest of the country.

I say within 10 years it will pass.

If the medical legalization battle is any indicator it's just over the horizon... Next time the legislation comes up I would like to see text a bit more favorable to the local/low end growers... I'm all for stopping the drug war, but let's not destroy the wonderful little micro economy it's provided either.

the big problem: supreme court ruled you can't collect tax on federal illegal transactions. violates 5th amendment.

Federal law trumps state law when it comes to this.

Just because the President and his DEA are willing to turn their heads for medicinal uses doesn't mean they'd support outright legalization. Obama has said as much and let's face it, with the way things are going now, the next President will likely be a Republican and his base would never support such a move. Well, unless DuPont can get the exclusive license to manufacture and distribute ... then they might get behind it.

As far as I'm concerned, it's legal now, you just need a script, they just want to tax it.
I'm just glad I stocked up on fruit flavored rolling papers before Barry made them illegal

think about that
