jeopardizes federal funds for government jobs due to drug free workplace requirements

jeopardizes fed money for education system

supreme court has ruled federally illegal product sales do not have to pay collected sales tax to government

marijuana is already decriminalized

medicinal marijuana is easily and readily available

the proposition itself is poorly (extremely) worded such that it can be contested from various angles.

I honestly don't use the stuff but I've yet to hear a really good argument for prohibition. On the other hand, I hear a lot of good arguments for legalization.

The only real argument against passage I've heard is that it might further promote other more serious addictions as a gateway drug. That is an interesting argument. But, that is something that should be able to be resolved though education.

For me it's already legal, just get a script, anyone can get one, cost about $150 on average, this is just bullshit that allows them to collect extra taxes on it

So I voted NO to prop 19. Hell around here it's hard to find a block without a house on it that isn't growing

Gateway drug theory failed big time long ago [btw wazzup with alcohol? its not a gateway drug? you can buy lethal dosage for a few bucks].

For long time now I don't blame any drugs, I blame lame users.

the word is that a lot of folks don't want it to pass this time around and then they hope to have a better version plus attracting young voters to vote for Obama in a couple of years.

exactly. worse, they will raise the price due to the tax and not have to pay those collected taxes back to the state. that's a lose lose situation.

Price might go down in a few years as more and more experienced growers are appearing.

If the taxes won't stay in the state thats bad, i don't even know how can it be...

You know, what I am interested in is the message to the rest of the world [especially EU] it spreads if this passes.

Maybe part of the reason it can be seen as a 'gateway' drug is because of the forbidden nature of it and the way in which people have had to go about getting it. If you have to go to less that trustworthy sources to get it then you are perhaps already mingling with the people that are able to 'push' you towards more dangerous substances. Make it less of something people have to be sneaky about and perhaps it would stop being such a gateway (if it really is at all) because people aren't having to go to those lengths to get it.

if i rethink, it was a gateway drug for me... gateway to eat mushrooms and acid and psy chemicals between the age of 20-27 All these trips made me understand the world and people and myself better and also I think it made me a better person. so in the end it was a gateway to something good.

From my 'childhood' smoker friends only a very few smokes still, and NO ONE went to 'hard drugs' or got addicted to some serious shit.

Very interesting info:
Hungarian millionaire Gyorgy Soros is funding the case with 1 million USD from the total campaign costs of 3.8m
Meanwhile Meg Whitman spends 142m from his private $$$ to sit in the chair of the Terminator. WOW!

California should go to Obama in 2 years no matter what. If California is up for grabs then he's got bigger problems and probably going to lose the overall election.

It didn't pass because some stoners didn't like the wordings of the proposition, idiots.
This could of changed the world. If it will be legal in the states it will become legal in many other places.

P.S. like true stoners they only care about their own high. very common.

No one gives a shit about the small details in the outside world, i know most americans can't grasp that, you need to look at the big picture. You had a chance and you blew it because of small details, who knows when or if the next time will be.
