the demand for drugs is not ever going to go away.

seems to me that the easy solution to preventing more unnecessary death & suffering is to simply change the laws.

In the US the "drug war" is bull shit. IMO they should legalize some drugs but the Government makes way more $$ with them being illegal.

Your trying to get government to make sense, although I agree with you 100%!

Legalizing them wont fix it either. Starting legalized and policed growth, Manufacture and distribution of it will.

they don't need to be "legalized"... they need to de-criminalize.

You couldn't be further off. The US government doesn't make money from durgs, but it costs us a ton. We have huge police forces that cost billions a year, plus the court systems are tied up with this shit, not to mention the costs of keeping this idiots in prison. In the mean time, our government doesn't make any money off of this.

I'm with you on making pot legal - make it legal, and tax it. Take something that is costing us money and make it into something that is making us money.

We can argue about our "drug war" being a victory or not. Seems to me we don't have the problems Mexico has.

Medicinal use was a step in the right direction, but so far, full legalization on the ballot here is failing. (a good thing).

Ok well here in NC lets say you have $10 worth of pot and get caught, you get a $200-$300 fine, court cost, then $25 for the sheriff fund (what ever that is) then you get to go to classes that cost another $100.

They are real tough on drunk drivers and the pay wayyyyyy more. They are building a new jail here so the old one will be going privet and that means they will get big bucks to KEEP people there.
