That doesn't mean shit these days. Try downloading 5 - 7 good free anti-malware utilities, update them, disconnect your internet and then run scans in safe mode with all of them. No one utility gets everything.

is that the one that needs the results to be deciphered by an expert?Comment

The difference is a service, device drive, program at startup.
Uninstall any program you dont use.
start/run "msconfig" uncheck startup programs and services you dont need. You can always turn it back on so don't worry. Tweaking this often makes a huge difference in system performance.AsiaMoviePass My Best Rebilling SiteComment

if you go to ninite.com they've got spywarebot, malwarebytes, ad-aware, and superantispyware where you can download/install in a matter of minutes. no need to track them all down.
run them all.
then get/run hijackthis.de (direct download link on the top/right of the page).
save a log file (it'll pop up in text format afterward, and paste the entire file/results on hijackthis.de)
only check/fix things that are known threats (hijackthis can screw your PC big time)
---
if it's still a problem, run "msconfig" via start menu, go to "startup" tab...and uncheck anything that you do not know what it is (except for Microsoft Corp stuff and antivirus).
That should fix itComment

I should mention make sure to disable the resident or on-demand scanner for the extra ones you get or they could cause incompatibilities with one another and slow things down further. Only one or two (at most and if compatible) should be active at a time. You can manually scan with as many as you want though.

fuck, there's easily 100 or more start up services showing, if i click hide all microsoft services the list shrinks to 5, is it ok, to not worry about the ms services? The difference is a service, device drive, program at startup.

No, probably not OK... Finish scanning your system first with Malwarebytes. If there is a virus or trojan causing this it should find it.The best ePassporte replacement I have found: OKPAYComment

That was pretty quick. Did you do a quick scan or a full scan? You should do a always Full scan when you suspect an infection.results from malware scan

Also that you fixed it by using msconfig is cool but if you don't know what put it there that is highly suspect. I'd still run some full malware scans.

You might try to turn one on again, reboot and check if everything is still OK, then the next and the next, etc. Then you can pinpoint the problem service. The best ePassporte replacement I have found: OKPAYComment

I bet you are right. iTunes fucked up my laptop so bad I had to just remove it.
