WTF is GOOGLE playing at? Listings 1,2 and 3 are the same site, different pages

Google's serps have gone even more to shit of late, for one phrase my competitor has 3 different pages on the same site at the top, mine is 4th, then 5th and 6th are another site, same base URL.

I'm not talking double listings off the main one, separate listings totally.

I hope they are just tweaking their algo and it isn't staying like this, fricken terrible.

A time is probably coming "soon" when there won't be one or even a few main search engine result orderings rather it will be more customized and dynamic for the individual user based on many factors. Laugh at me all you want.

I've seen some of what you're talking about...actually had done a long tail search the other day, and the first 3 or 4 results were from 1 site. It wasn't a brand search or anything, so really shocked me, and the site was kind of shitty compared to the result I inevitably went to to get what I needed. The domain however was key to the placements I think, as my search was a mortgage loan rates related one and the domain was MortgageLoan.com. *drools*

Search results will be dynamic and they're already moving that direction, but they will still rank sites based on certain metrics. You may not hold a stable set position in the SERPs across all searches performed or the same term, but the value of your site will still weigh in heavily in most cases. Build a solid site with good content. Keep at the backlinking. Just because the search results cater more to the individual user doesn't mean that your site will be invisible to a user searching for "shemale cocksucking", or that a brand new site will suddenly outrank you out of nowhere, just because so and so search user had a history of searching for "cute puppies". Maybe if they search "shemale cocksucking", visit your site, bounce after 4 seconds, and never view it again after several more searches. Then maybe. But just because things become more fluid doesn't mean they're going to be crazy random either. If you're offering what people are looking for, they will still find you...
