Obama CUT taxes
In a troubling sign for Democrats as they head into the midterm elections, their signature tax cut of the past two years, which decreased income taxes by up to $400 a year for individuals and $800 for married couples, has gone largely unnoticed. In a New York Times/CBS News Poll last month, fewer than one in 10 respondents knew that the Obama administration had lowered taxes for most Americans. Half of those polled said they thought that their taxes had stayed the same, a third thought that their taxes had gone up, and about a tenth said they did not know. As Thom Tillis, a Republican state representative, put it as the dinner wound down here, ?This was the tax cut that fell in the woods ? nobody heard it.? See REPUBLICANS admit Obama cut taxes. They just state otherwise in political ads. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/19/us...s/19taxes.html |

 | As rhetoric, the dems invoking tax cuts is a losing strategy. Democrats, unlike republicans, believe that government services and adventures like wars SHOULD be paid for, which means paying your taxes, and since the bill has become so large since Reagan, we are obligated to pay even more taxes than we do now, to pay our debts as a nation. Republicans believe in borrowing money for wars and bailouts and stimulus, then keeping taxes low so that the ultimate debt grows even larger and is eventually paid by future generations, but not by them. If the teapublicans win a functional majority, what they will do is increase spending while deferring taxes, which they've done in every past administration - thus increasing the overall debt. Again, as they have done in every past administration in our lifetimes. Deferred taxation is INCREASED taxation. So, it's a waste of time for dems to claim tax cuts, because it doesn't motivate anyone to vote dem. At best, it appeals to centrists who are unable to do basic financial math. |

 | So, we pay thousands more for products and services each year due to additional taxes to get a $400 tax break? It went unnoticed in a survey because it was unnoticed in reality. |

here's a list of the states that raised taxes this year, you'll find most are democratic states California Oregon Nevada Utah Colorado South Dakota Iowa Minnesota Wisconsin Kentucky Arkansas Tennessee Georgia Mississippi Florida Pennsylvania North Carolina Delaware New York Rhode Island Maine New Hampshire Connecticut New Jersey California being the biggest in term of population and economy is a very liberal state and is suffering because of it, look at the red states and you'll find they are doing pretty well in comparison

i guess you learn something new every day... so, you blame obama for the failures of the US, but then blame dems for the failure of california? you should be working at a health club running their spin class program... btw, ca has been fucked for a long time for a lot of different reasons and both parties are responsible as well as the fed for letting the immigrants pour into that state for decades... but listen, you are going to get your wish in nov and then you are going to really get to see what a clusterfuck looks like. good thing i am not a jockey because i am going to beat this dead horse yet again... until there is a complete overhaul of the govt, there will be no change.. after nov and the changing of the guard, expect hyper inflation and a rise in unemployment in 2011.... the downward spiral we are on can not be stopped... . .

The California State Senate is the upper house of the California State Legislature. It is made up of 40 state senators and meets in Sacramento. Members of the Democratic Party are currently in the majority in the California Senate.

 | it makes shit of a difference.. now you are playing games... you can excuse arnold for the problems of california because the democraps are in control of the senate, but then you try to change the rules as it applies to the federal level.. make up your mind.... in one breath you say that the party rules over the leader and then in your second breath you act like that only applies to the state level... pick a side and stick with it you oversized bagel.... . |

imho its not being an obama fanboy to point out that the other side is not going to be a fruitful as people think... we will see in november, but i believe that the US is on an uncontrollable free fall and only the complete eradication of govt is going to solve the problem(s).... .

 | A person sure would like to pay less taxes, unless he/she wants to pay more taxes for some reason. It does make sense to put higher taxes on the richer.

 | Can't anyone just agree that professional politicians are bad for us? Democrat, republican...it doesn't matter. These people failed in "regular" society; they made nothing of themselves other than politicians...and now they're millionaires? Screw all the crooks in every local, county, state, and federal government. All they want is more...no matter who the hell they are. |

we have a system that caters to corporations that could give two shits about the people.. i believe that regardless of a persons intelligence level, collectively they can make a society better.. i dont know why i argue this point, maybe its the core beliefs that my hippy parents taught me that you should always fight for the people that cant fight for themselves and that fight doesnt have to be fought with weapons or soldiers.... the other side of me doesnt care because i have always been in the upper tier of earners, so in the end none of this is going to impact my lifestyle personally... for the time being, i choose to embrace the belief that as human beings we can show compassion to our fellow man and help make the world a better place for those that dont have the intelligence or strength to fight for what is right... .
