Yep, Muslims and their religious law taking over is the real fear.

While Romas / eastern Europeans / Africans aren't exactly desired in many countries, such as the U.K., France, Germany, they're more of an annoyance than a real threat - and to be fair, many of them are trying to make a living, but assimilating there is challenging, especially compared to the U.S.

The U.S. is fortunate in its Hispanic population is rapidly growing - while many don't view that as a positive, there are some good things about it in that their beliefs, by and large, are similar to that of many long time citizens, and more to the point, their numbers, especially when one factors in their reproduction rate, will far exceed Muslims immigration for many decades to come

And another plus, though again, not often viewed that way by most, are FEMA camps are built and ready to go (personally I have mixed feelings about such facilities existing) to house several hundred thousand to a few million people...

The U.S. has utilized detention camps for large numbers of citizens in the past, most notably during in WWII with the Japanese - as Camp Delta illustrated, the U.S. government will detain people, regardless of public outcry, if it appears such groups present an imminent danger to the security of the nation.

I don't want the government to get involved, but there may be no viable alternative.

What would you do if a large group of people moved into your neighborhood and sought to impose their religious beliefs and laws on you? Now imagine that occurring on a statewide or even regional scale - only the government has the resources to stop / prevent that.

Few people, talking in the U.S., realize how dangerous much of the world is - and serious the threats out there really are...

The 911 terror attacks was a prime example of terror that exists out there waiting to pounce. And that wasn't the first large-scale attempt either - there had been numerous others, such as coordinated attacks on the tunnels in NYC, that fortunately were detected and stopped by government authorities...

Citizens alone don't have the resources to stop most organized terror attacks, let alone prevent them through detection, and in worse case scenarios, preemptive action, such as detention camps.

One of the most basic functions of government is security - and the U.S. government is very aggressive in that regard, often to a fault, but it beats the alternative of allowing large-scale terror attacks go unchallenged.

Actually no, that's your interpretation of what was said thus far.

For the record, I'm black and I can understand from a Caribbean and African perspective that issues with immigrants often have little to do with their color and more to do with cultural norms, belief systems and the false sense of entitlement that some immigrants possess.

Adding color into the mix is simply a way to complicate the matter or is used by the more liberal-minded as a way to shut down the conversation. No one wants to be branded as a racist, so the minute that race comes up in regards to immigration many people simply shut up and swallow their concerns.

We have to get past that. Global immigration is a growing challenge for many nations. It is quite ironic that people who move to another country tend to be more outspoken in that foreign country than they ever would be back in their home state.

I always wonder why didn't they use that same voice to make their life better in the country they originally came from.
