ISprime is worthless right now. All the big dogs (xnxx, xvideos) got them cornered.
Doenst look like there's any backups either. Try moving elsewhere. |
You guys wouldn't have this problem if you had purchased dedicated backup servers. All of the available disk i/o would be dedicated to getting your sites back online.

I did this with no response yesterday the min it was announced, I called in at night and they said it must have got deleted. So I did it again last night, and you are telling me I shouldn't call to ask if you even have my email let alone my server? |
So will Isprime be the new home to xvideos?

rcn told me they are setting up servers and copying the backups there. They said we will receive our username/pass to connect and get our data. I asked when and they answered no ETA yet
|
Man what a catastrophe... :(
|
this whole situation is the finest example of the duality of karma.
on one side you have a group of people who are extremely distressed by all that has surpassed over the last 4 days, the webmasters who had servers at rcn, and the staff at rcn. on the other end, you have a group of people who are extremely happy with what has surpassed, the webmasters who dislike xvideos/xnxx, the people who have seen a bump in traffic because the fore mentioned have been offline, those who will snatch up the business that rcns demise will result in and hell, even those at isprime who will see a bigger paycheck thanks to the overtime hours that have resulted thanks to all of this. remember kids, regardless of what side you are on today... in the end, it is all just temporary. |
Thought I would jump in and make a comment. ISPrime seems to be doing the best they can to help some of us get back up.
Most of my stuff is coming back online... 6 servers from RCN. Mainstream though, not much content... just a lot of transactional databases. |
I would like to see a list of sites coming back online from their RCN´s backups.
Any idea? pichunter.com is up more? |
We'll probably see a few more attacks of this nature. It might be a good idea to stay away from hosts that allow perceived content theft sites.

This is a very unfortunate situation for all a lot of people and hope that all works out! If you a RCN customer and need any assistance with migration, to Way3 or to another host, please let us know. We'll be glad to assist!
Wishing everyone the best! |
ISprime told you guys NOT to ICQ anyone.
To call the sales department and get your account setup and send them payment. |

i thought they knew who was behind it. whole thing smells like bullshit.

I called ISPrime years ago, they were assholes then and it sounds like they are assholes now.
As for hounding people that just lost hosting to pay a bill in order to get help. :( You couldn't at least honor the remainder of contracts? Sounds like you are taking advantage of this situation in the worst ways possible. |

Correct me if i'm wrong, but baddog is just a reseller.
|
After reading about Isprime and their backlog in setting up servers, I decided to go with Webair. After few hours I already had dialogue with their tech on setup of server. Now, just awaiting the backup from rcn.

I dont know what is going on with them now - but since RCN ignore me I think to try rebuild my server from my HDD on some other hosting company and ask RCN to credit my card for what they charge me for backup - because since 4 days they can't provide me backup, now they dont answer my question and the server is still down
I know shit happens but the worst in such case what can do hosting (or other company ) is no answer's and ignoring customers |
hey demon, my case is exactly the same, i have been paying for backups since 2005
i just can't imagine the thousands of dollars spent into backups for nothing :( and yet, i m waiting for answers and nothing is coming |

My sites are online again, but the databases are still missing... The date I see on my site now is 09/09/10 which means that the last backup was made more than 1 month ago, but I´ve been paying for monthly backups, so would think that the last one should have been made by the end of september/beginning of october which apperantly isn't the case :(
|
Good news in case you guys didn't hear...RCN isn't going out of business. Ben told me they were able to hold on to some larger clients who refused to leave.

Well now it doesn't...as of last night it did. About to swap it out with updated news. Just going by what I'm told.

Big drawback of colo is that when things go wrong, the techs at the colo are limited in what they can do due to the nature of the service - often won't do much more than power-cycling. Customer is responsible for the hardware, software config, backups, etc. For the colo to do most anything requires explicit instructions, or a service contract (often with an outside contractor with rapid access to the colo), or the customer visiting there (often not practical); colos are thinly staffed with the bare essentials for running the facility.
