AVN Expo

Affiliate Summit (what is this?)

??????

Affiliate Summit is the mainstream affiliate show (has some adult too).. it's like IA2000 on crack. If you want to see who the real big boys are, the newest toys, software, scripts, and todays best ideas, watch/listen to real seminars that educate even the highest skilled people, then hit the summit.

The downfall of the adult show will be the Affiliate Summit happening at the same time. If I come up this year, I will be all over the summit.

to make it more clear regarding the dates:

Jim, 8th will have preregistration in the afternoon, a coctail reception etc, more like a warm up day. Core days of the event will be the 9th and the 10th, so there is plenty of time for the ones that will come mainly for AEE to do business there and have time to take the max from both events.

Thedoc, I agree, the aff.summit is a blast and worths attending 100%. Nevertheless, having in mind that apart of very few companies, they dont let adult ones excibit, there is plenty of space to have an adult event overlaping. There will be many crossover activities between the 2 events and I think this will be highly beneficial and productive for both. Having the aff.summit in the Wynn and Internext in the Venecian is a plus.

I am sure some of the mainstream attendees will discover a brand new world and the opposite :)

We always stayed there, even when it was at the palms. Glad to see the move, the palms is a joke of a hotel.

PR_Dave 10-18-2010 07:41 AM

As per usual, no one from PimpRoll will be attending.

Just take a cab from the front of the hotel around to the sands, it will save many steps... :thumbsup

Yes, and it killed Internext's attendance. :2 cents:

i will be attending the affiliate summit and staying at the wynn if anyone needs me. love that place.

Redrob 10-18-2010 08:45 AM

Let's not forget that CES is also running at the same time. Lots of eye candy and new technologies will be announced there.

InterNEXT's attendance has been low the last few years, when they did CES, AEE and InterNEXT together, at the time it was bigger and they were all much larger shows.

I think now more than ever the internet side is doing more biz with the studios and I think it can be really beneficial for studios in terms of licensing, broadcasting, still some of the VOD market, etc. With retailers dying, the studios have to find other ops.

This is a good thing for TopBucks. We always capitalize on the media that CES draws in.

Should be plenty of new things on both sides, that's for sure... Maybe some of the late night parties and bar gatherings will have some new topics of conversion happening that isn't normal to our Industry events.

I really hope the organizers of various events in our industry attend some of the seminar and training events at the summit. The level of information, the type of information, and the type of people giving that information is what makes some of the mainstream events so mind blowing over anything I've ever heard on our side of the fence.

While I'm sure both sides have a lot they can take out of these events. I expect it's going to be a lot of adult industry folks getting a slap in the face that everything that is adult is a micro industry compared to what is happening across the pond. Maybe that will be good for us, lots of the information crosses over, that could for sure fire some people up.

That year was a hard pill to swallow because at the time it was still largely a booth / show floor driven event. The CES show floor had all the newest bells and whistles, AEE had all the adult talent, and Internext... well, there were scantily clad flier girls :Oh crap. The evening events went well, but the days were desolate. Everyone was somewhere else. It was a ghost town.

I'm not rehashing this to take a piss on AVN, I really want to see these shows make a comeback. I'm just throwing it out there as a reminder. I think the state of the industry and the economy may draw more people than in the time prior to B2B functions and away from eye candy, but we should do well to remember the eye candy at the other shows are pretty powerful draws when you've probably got things happening like Jesse Jane and Bree Olson having a pillow fight in one hall and 3D TVs w/o the glasses in another.

Allison 10-19-2010 06:49 AM

I'm excited. I wish this was how it was 5 years ago.

Sweet! The amount of mobile deals I did last year, I don't have to worry about PR being there. =)
