Actually, not surprising in the least. I used to listen to ICP, up until their Bizaar/Bizarre albums (never considered myself a juggalo, nor painted my face like an idiot ), and they've always subtly mentioned their belief in God. And their lyrics generally trash racists and bigots (ironic considering most of their fan base).

The article mentions they revealed it a few years ago, so its not a PR stunt, at least not now anyway. I think the point that's being missed here is that they are rappers who are christian, but not christian rappers. There is a difference.

they're far from failures imo. They had and still do have ridiculously fans that buy anything and everything they sell. Not to mention the almost always packed ICP concerts.

They're horrible musicians as far as I'm concerned but they either have a case DAMN good dumb luck or are marketing masterminds.

Yep, I do still listen to some of their stuff, they have always been this way.

If you take a step back and get your head out of your ass and truly LISTEN to their stuff and UNDERSTAND it, you'll see.

They actually have ALOT of good decent songs, but nobody outside of their "juggalos" actually hear their meaningful songs, as they all just hear the stupid fucking around songs, and automatically assume "welp they talk about raping and murdering, apparently they suck".

ICP has always been this way... if youre ditching them as a fan now then you never really were a fan of htem in the past because you didnt know jack shit about them.

This has always been their behind the scenes secret.

ICP made it a long way and carved out their very own fans and niche in the music world all while not being publicized by anyone. NO MTV no VH1 ... no nothing. Just their marketing and word of mouth. They at one point stood up against Eminem both in lyrics and in ratings all while eminem had everything like mtv and all their groupies backing them in the light.

as good as gwar?>! theyre not even close to the same thing and Id say far more people know of ICP than Gwar. (dont get me wrong, not knocking gwar)

Now im not the biggest die hard juggalo fan, but i do recognize what they gone through and have accomplished.

Sure theyre lyrics are crazy as fuck. But yes, there are plenty of GREAT MEANINGFUL songs. Shit. I dont think anyone in this thread would listen to 'homies' with a friend and not find that song totally kick ass. If you dont, then youre just lame...

Best post of the thread! I've listened to them since their first album in 92 and it started out cause I loved bass and the songs were funny.. They have really grown as people and so has their music over the years.. Icp is much bigger then just icp.. The are co founders of their own record label and all the groups have the juggalo sound with their own twist to them. Then they have JCW their own pro wrestling that has grown huge (although I hate wrestling..)

I wasn't even going to post to this cause so many people are closed minds and the great thing about icp is they don't give a shit if they are ever mainstream cause they know who they are and will always have loyal fans cause they don't sell out to make a buck.

ICP not being all that intelligent as far as book smarts doesn't change anything about their songs or lyrics. I've know for a long time they're not the sharpest knives in the drawer. Years ago on Howard Stern, Violent J couldn't even figure out how old he was when he dropped out of school.

In comparison, I caught the interview with Eminem on 60 Minutes this past Sunday. He didn't come off as much more intelligent.

Agreed. They are brilliant marketers; a great influence on the way i market my own band, even.

Their music just isn't good enough to like in a serious way and the lyrics aren't funny enough to make it good comedy music, which makes it embarrassingly terrible.
