doubt it. it's a HUGE obstacle to get millions and millions of surfers to download the plugin. Flash is already there. What does this do that Flash doesn't?

Even Adobe with I think help from Microsoft hasn't had much luck getting their Flash alternative going, called Liquid Motion or something.

Flash wasent always a part of your browser, you had to download the plugin.

Flash was called Splash originally, without Macromedia it wouldn't have gone anywhere. Unless somebody huge gets behind this one it will struggle like the hundred of other apps which require surfers to download/install something.

ok i installed Anark, looks cool but I don't see anything that Flash doesn't do. If it's easier to learn than Flash then i'd be happy.

I dont remember it being called Splash, and i have been there since version1 - Im NOT saying you are lying - just that I cant say anyhing about it.

Macromedia wasent that big back a few years ago - thay had flash, freehand, dreamweaver and fireworks

I can see that company getting some money from one of the big boys very soon.

No they cant - you cant build the same in flash/shockwave.
Look at the size - they crammed a whole 3dmax modied down to 115kb!!!!!

Seeing this stuff makes me wonder how come people look at me like I'm insane when I say the Internet and Television will be a shared medium completely by the time our kids are grown up. All this stuff is doing is making it so you basically do TV/Broadcast quality stuff on a browser. Interactive TV will be the Net at some point.

And I agree with AMP although with the caveat that a plug in will have to offer something significantly new that can't be copied by Flash quickly enough or it won't gain enough steam. Flash had no one with a pre-existing install base to compete against when they came up. Anything else now has to deal with Flash scrambling to catch up and then leverage it's install base against them.

yes - it takes so damm long to learn 3d Max (if you want to use that as the creator) spend more than 3 days to figure out how to make one object move through another.
Ended up contracting a 3d Max company (truemax.dk)
But It truely have great potential - and I will play with in any freetime I get.
You could have websites looking like the movie "Lawn-moover man" (think it was called that )

with companies like NVIDIA backing them i see this becoming better then flash and the plug-in deal no problem when all the big pc prodution companies build half or even more then that of their pcs and are already installing NVIDIA video cards and they have to install the software

So why not install the plug-in for this to be already on the system of millions in less then a years time you have to think the average person will not take their pc to get repaired for a large amount of $$$ if they can purchase a new one from dell cheaper

With the way the internet is becoming and broadband ppl are surfing more, longer, and pushing their pc's harder and one day they aren't going to be able to do this to the same pc

The user will just buy a new one since it's going to be so cheap i mean look at it 499.99 and you can get a brand new dell loaded with lots of "user goodies" maybe not so great of a pc for us webmasters but for the user it's great and will already have this plug-in anyway just my

Ok, first off, the first version of Flash was called FutureSplash. Macromedia bought it, and made it what it is.

Second, Macromedia doesn't want Flash to do 3D, it is a Vector Based Animation tool and they want to keep it at that. And with FLASH MX, they added a server side component for it to make it that much stronger with their scripting capabilities. (Yes I know it supports streaming video on the server side)

Third, Shockwave can do this and more. Directore 8.5 has the 3D support and ties in with 3DMax, Maya, SoftImage and others.

Adobes version is no longer a work in progress, they have a minimal team to it, they threw in the tool for it.

Corel has something now, that is very simple to do Flash Banners and such, problem is, it is a memory hog, and it doesn't compress as well as Flash, and has very weak scripting.

So basically this can be done in Director, and compressed as small if not smaller than it is, and you get the benefit of using a variety of different 3D software to tie it in.

But, again, if it is easier to use than Flash and/or Director, it will get a foothold, and stay there for a while, just like Viewpoint has.
