Just curious as to why most paysite owners use third part billers instead of their own merchant account to proccess their card transactions?

14% just seems really high for this service and they hold your money forever. What are the benefits?

i've yet to figure out why big programs ($200k+)/mo dont get their own.... but small ones, it's the $ factor.. i'm looking for a bank for my own right now..... gotta have customer support ppl and all that too..

It is now. The bank must have 100 Million in Tier One Capital.

just do the initial trans with a bank in the states and the rebills offshore.

When we did paysites from 1995-1998, there wasn't much in the way of 3rd party billers in the beginning. First virtual and mabey 1 other.

We went through 10 merchant accounts in 3 yrs. Doing about 2-5 million per year.

It's damm tough. Some of the larger programs have there own, but most are offshore. Places like Charter Pacific fucked alot of ppl.

and places like humboldt and cardservice will eat you alive in fees, etc if your cb's are too much.

Sure you pay 14% with 3rd party, but remember, they handle all calls, emails, CS, etc, etc. I think it's worth it.
