I'm not a content shooter, it's for my site - simonscans - I'm Simon.

But since you ask, I seem to run at about 2 beers per set. One while the assistant sets up the lights and one while I'm shooting. But its got to be bottled, imported premium stuff.

The maths on fly away trips to Spain is now horrific.

Flights for 2 including all the gear = £600 (minimum - We use the Jedi mind trick at check-in to break their mental maths when adding up the bags; sometimes we fail and get stung)

Villa = £2000 - £4000 per week
Car hire = £300 per week
Model costs = £300 - £500 per day
Per diems for crew = £50 per day
Airport parking in the UK = £10 per day (Ihave no idea why this one annoys me so much, but it does)
Phone roaming and local credit = £150 per week
Broken gear - I always break SOMETHING, if not me then the baggage handlers = £500 per trip.

IF we hit the ground running, and get shoots happening fast then It's kind of OK, but if we get messed about by noshows, broken gear or shit weather and fall behind on shoots, then its a major problem - The girls can only do so many hours shooting per day before wilting, but shooting TWO models back to back per day is impossible as A, no one can get up before midday and B I'm too old and my electric wheel chair needs to charge all night.

There's a point that surprisingly easy to reach where our cost per set just doubles and no amount pushing can get the maths back in line.

Used to fly to the Canaries or Portugal 15 - 20 years ago. It was cheaper then and we took UK models. Only had to shoot a set in the morning and one in the late afternoon to make it pay. In fact 3-5 "Five Girl Razzle Romps" would contribute to the over all costs a lot.

Problems with shooting video were many, noise from traffic, builders, people in the next villa, wind, etc were annoying. But we managed to make it pay. ;)

Doing it now and flying in non English speaking models must make it a nightmare. You don't have a clue what's she's like until you pick her up at the airport or pull out a camera.

Simon you missed the major costs, paying models and feeding them.
