The Pirate Bay has reached yet another milestone. Today, they track more than 20 million unique peers for the first time since the site was launched. It is estimated that the Pirate Bay tracks more than half of all BitTorrent users at any given point in time.

remember more than 50% of the torrent traffic is for tv shows which means more than 10 million people are using torrent to time shift their favorite shows.

hell even uno said he downloads shows he paid for but could not record (because the limits of his pvr)

totally wrong, the same act that grant you an exclusive rights of distribution put an exclusionary clause around those rights called fair use.

The law itself give me a fair use right to copy content under certain conditions, and the betamax case makes timeshifting one of those conditions.

i have a right to timeshift any show i paid for (when i paid my cable bill) the fact that i use torrents to do that does not change the fact that i still have a right to timeshift shows i paid for.

You are right with that statement about being in your right to time-shift something that you paid for.

But the torrent sites do not have the right to distribute the content that you paid for.

Have you ever wondered why Directv and Time Warner cable carry different stations and shows? Its because they have distribution rights/licenses to do so. They acquired these rights and licenses by paying for them.

Do torrent sites have those same rights? Not at all.

So, you may not be in an actionable position for a lawsuit due to the fact that you actually have a right to watch that particular show, but the torrent site that you are getting it from has no rights what so ever.

Giddiongallarery, its funny how you use the wrong rules and apply wrong law to support whatever "you think" is right. You really have no idea what the fuck you are talking about as a whole. You hit a good point here and there, but you stupidity really out weighs you intellect. You write well and you argue pretty good where it "seems" to make some sense, but you misapply the 'rules/laws" to the set of facts you are trying to argue.

In short, i see you and i see how much you really don't know.
