This one is pretty much identical to mine, minus the spoiler. I wanted a perfect Z32 (the name of the 1990-1996 300ZX's body style) to start with. So, I found one for sale in Morgan City, Louisiana. I took a one way rental car to get there, and drove it back on 4/6 cylinders (23 hour, 900 mile round trip - in ONE day), since it had two clogged injectors. But, it was exactly what I was looking for. A pristine 2+2 non-turbo, automatic transmission. Because this was the least desirable configuration the Z came in at the time, the likelihood of some dumb faggots ricing/ruining it was very low. In fact, it was actually a single owner granny car this whole time. So what did I do? I converted it to a 5spd, completely rebuild the brake system and completely rebuilt the entire suspension from the ground up with all new bushings, shocks, springs, control arms, sway bars, etc etc. (about $3k in suspension parts alone). Now, mechanically speaking, only the engine is not far better than brand new. To remedy that, I have a second 300ZX in my driveway that I purchased from someone who just wrecked it (but the engine bay is perfectly fine). Once I finish parting out the second car, I will take the revenue from that to buy a brand new wiring harness, timing kit and ECU, and swap the 300HP twin turbo motor from the second Z into my main one. The ECU upgrade will put me at about 310-315. From there, the last step is upgrading turbos, intercoolers, fuel system and exhaust, then cleaning up the body for a fresh coat of Ferrari red paint and putting on new wheels and tires. When done (I've been working on this one for a year) in about 8-10 months, it will be a 400RWHP customized beauty, that is both able to rip it at the track, and still be comfy to go get groceries in, all for a grand total of about $15k spent. Not bad, eh? :) |

The Pontiac G8 (now not sold due to GM closing Pontiac) was built on the same platform, and actually built here in AU. Shame GM decided to sell the G8 as a Pontiac not a Chevy, otherwise you'd still be able to buy it. We still have a chance at getting more Aussie made cars on US roads because it looks like the Australian Chev Caprice Cop car is gonna get lots of orders. (also the same platform as the '10 Camaro albeit long wheelbase) http://www.fordpedia.org/wp-content/...aprice_PPV.jpg Chevy PPV / Australian Holden Statesman http://www.thetorquereport.com/pontiac_g8_fr_new.jpg Pontiac G8 / Australian Holden Commodore. |

I've owned over 10 cars and driven many more and the Camaro is by far alot of fun to drive. Even when driving like an idiot, it still feels safe and sticks to the road. |
