I did not notice the change until I looked at this thread. The background is dark and faded. The text and advertisements are bright. The mind takes information well from bright objects placed on a dark background. It's a nice contrast. It's like reading white letters on a black background. Too much brightness can be very unpleasant to the eyes. However, black letters can also be read on a white background.
