Why the fuck does someone go hiking in a war zone?

CIVMatt 09-15-2010 08:54 AM

But there are no places to hike in America or any of the other 147 countries that are friendly to America. What's a hiker to do?

Where is your thread about the THOUSANDS of mexicans held "hostage" by the usa ?
Where is your thread about the thousands of muslims held hostage by israel ?

p.s. before you assure us that israel and iraq have "no well marked borders" perhaps you should remember others have been there too :Oh crap

"Shourd, 32, along with Shane Bauer, 28, and Josh Fattal, 28, were detained July 31, 2009, after they allegedly strayed across an UNMARKED BORDER into Iran while hiking in Iraq's Kurdistan region."

Having been in the area myself, I assure you that there are no well marked borders and it is very easy to move from one country into another without being aware of it. I am quite certain that these people did just that and are now being held as political pawns by Iran.

Sally.

ahh right because hiking in Iraq is much safer, got ya!!

Sally.

it's your homework dear. you started a thread asking why someone was arrested for something that gets you arrested everyday in the usa or any other country,

Well educated sarah made a huge mistake, a mistake most uneducated people would likely never make.

Thanks for the background info, she should never have been in iraq imo.

You also left out this important tidbit

"Iran's state television said later that the Americans were arrested after they did not heed warnings from Iranian border guards. "

i'm sure any person who truly "strays" across a border of anything doesn't feel happy when they realise their mistake. Very rarely does this go unpunished, and it certainly doesn't go unpunished in your country.

but lets not kid ourselves, they did not "stray" across the border, they were warned by armed border guards to stay away , they ignored those warnings and got arrested.

Remember that when Ötzi The Iceman was found near a mountain top on the Italian/Austiran border, those in charge had to run GPS to figure out what country he was actually in! Turned out to be Italy but they had to use modern technology to prove it.

nice tidbit although it has nothing to do with what you are talking about. :disgust

This is NOT any kind of "political" thread but rather about AMERICAN citizens being held HOSTAGE by a country run by a mad man!

I have a neat idea. How about you pick the weeds and clean up the dog shit in your own yard before you bitch about the neighbour's lawn being too tall.

WTF was she doing there in the first place? Idiot Americans have to understand that every place is NOT as safe as the US.

Pics Traffic 09-16-2010 07:34 AM

If you believe any statement that comes out of the government of Iran, then I have some beachfront property in Oklahoma City I want to talk to you about and then we'll discuss the scrapping of the Brooklyn Bridge. This entire incident was a setup on the part of that corrupt entity for purely political reasons. It seems that people will not realize just what the government of Iran really is until they get the great flash of inspiration from the nuke Iran first uses on a nearby country and all of those people will go like, "WTF?". People like myself will be going like, "We told you so!" as we hunker down leaving you speechless in disbelief.

The government of Iran has spoken only one bit of truth and that truth is that it fully intends to destroy Israel and is willing to take down the entire Middle East to do it.
