The best way to steal money is to take as much time as possible before letting the person know

String them along for a few months at least, and then once they are worn out - give them the bad news that there's some sort of bank/merchant/etc problem/violation

Then, for shits and giggles, tell them you're not going to charge them any fees or extra money, but the money they do have won't be recouperated

Exactly. There will be "side effects" of this that will ripple through the Industry, affecting even those of us with no epassports connections. Surfer confidence, perhaps tighter regulations, affiliates and webmasters going out of business equaling less traffic, sponsers who cannot pay their affiliates, webmasters who cannot buy traffic, paysite owners who cannot pay content providers, site owners can't pay designers, on and on...

Would think Mr Mallick has resources way in excess of 20 million. I also doubt he would put it all on the line and mortgage epass.

I really doubt he needs to crash his biz, go bankrupt and steal whatever money he can get.

My feeling is regulations were broken and/or new regulations (most likely) are being required by "the powers that be" and it will take epass time to restructure the system to meet the new regs.

I think the Virtual Visa funds will be released in time, in full to those owners who are not engaged in anything illegal after regulators review everything.

I think a much more regulated epass will be back someday. Hopefully soon.

The real underlying issue with ePass is the fact that it had so many effectively anonymous or "unverified" users. Those kinds of accounts are no longer acceptable under the new ATM/Debit Card rules recently implemented.

Those who are unwilling or unable to become fully verified will indeed lose their $ but there is no doubt in my mind that there is also some monkey business at work.

Great point. This would also relate to why so many people (outside the US espec) are now being asked for verification documents even tho they had verified before.

Michael has already stated a couple days back in the main (long) thread that all the VV money is in the SKN bank. Thus, this would show the intent is not to steal.

A rep of Epassporte has said on record all the Virtual Visa funds are RIGHT NOW in the SKN bank. Since crooks normally do not commit to stances like Michael and Epassporte took by saying all the VV money is in SKNB, I am confident all the money is indeed in the SKN bank.

Second, because of much respect for you, I will adopt the optimistic outlook you outlined. However, I do so at the price of overriding years of journalism and basic bullshit detection.

For example, I would think a very intelligent person, as people have time and again said about this Mallick guy, could figure out a way to make things LOOK to us "observers" (i.e., people with zero access or knowledge, just people at a keyboard somewhere in the world) that things are as they should be (monies where they should be). I mean, what is anyone going on here? "Official" statements from the parties involved? So what? LOL

We don't have access to the banks, or Visa, or MiddleMen's books, or Mallick's books, and know not what his "resources" are or are not. Whatever. I guess I am not as trusting. Then again, it's not my money...

You know, I've been thinking the same thing. If not Visa someone in the government. I avoided saying it because I didn't want to add to all the chaos or start nasty rumors. But it's easy to forget how 90% of the population views us as an industry: perverts, liars, cheats, and crooks. People are people. Often stuff like this goes down because some bigwig makes a phone call or two after feeling outraged.

Mr Mallick's recent comments feel as if there's a hint if "I'm defending the industry" within them as well. I've also noticed that for some time the banks have seemed to be watching adult related transactions more closely...but I always kept quiet about this for fear that I might have been reading too much into it.

I've said it before and I will say it again, if you're doing anything shady (taxes, billing, etc) look out. Times are a changing.

Well, so far we have 23 individuals who believe like Vjo: this will all work out and it's an innocent issue. My hopes lie with this view.

But taken together it's 4:1 "yes" and "I don't fucking care, pay me" (which I'm sure some of the "no" votes would want to add). Interesting.

The hardest situations to sort out are the most plausible ones. So this could be innocent, or it could be nefarious. Time will tell, of course. In the meantime, people get hurt.

But basicly everything is being decided now. Those doing nothing illegal, already verified and set up for proper reporting of their financial info to "you know who" (essentially a US citizen with a SSN) will get all their money back within a month or so.

Others outside the US will need to verify. Those doing something illegal, not meeting the new regs and/or not able to verify their identity and provide all needed info will get zip. All or zip.

Essentially selectivly unfreezing each asset on an individual basis. Frozen until proven in line. Then flipping the master switch back on when most all is reviewed.
