I'm sorry we didn't get our Guggenheim date ~ I wanted to geek out with you and Monet, but there was so much going on.

Maybe Lensman will take me to the next show and we can find a gallery to explore.

I volunteered at the largest art museums in new orleans for years, even curating events.

we had a 26 foot ceiling that was designed and sponsored by the guggenheim to spiral 4 times before going flat with the floor, a cement sculpure hommage to the guggenheim.

we had some great exhibits. The last one I was part of was a Pop Explosion Exhibit where I gtot to unroll Warhols and restretch them, along side unrolling basquiat works and restretching them as well. I coordinated the tour of Jeff Koontz, and even 18 foot Pollacks.

Ive seen the best paintings ever face to face, and even halped hang them on the wall.

ive unrolled Warhols 'Monroe'

heheh

There were 3 medium rooms with about 7-10 painting in each...

My favorites were the Van Gogh, Pollack, and Malevich

this was a cool one

That's so cool.
I'm very texture oriented, so I'll get lost in the art and yelled at by security for forgeting the rules and touching the pieces.

Did you have to wear special gloves when you worked?

Yes.

Ive handled Lichtenstein's that were worth 3 million dollars, most exausting thing is keeping them at under 50% humidity in New Orleans.

Those pices were all loans, meaning, someone owned them and since we were a non profit org, they loaned them to us to view.

Gloves arent the bigest worry, most art like that is durable, but for the most part the smallest details are mentioned in 10 page contracts to allow the work to be viewed.

the humiidity almost started to cause a problem with the Lichtenstein during that exhibit... they flew in a guy to test it the last 2 weeks of the show.

Tested it twice a day. We were very nervous.

But then, Ive unrolled basquiats and you wouldnt believe how they package things.

Its weird, youd think the paint would chip etc, but it doesnt.

Simple re stretch it on canvas, nail it on. Plenty of people watching though to make sure its done with care.

I have an illegal VHSC of the tour hahaha ill have to dig it up.

Since I helped put it together, late one night I took my girl trough the show and filmed it. hehehe

Warhol was a pimp... he used to invest in expensive designer suits and shoes and then take 'em home and splatter paint all over them :p just to show people he didn't give a fuck.

Cheshire, next time you need some texture...
I'm all surface, no rehearses.

I know this out-of-the-way cozy gallery down there... one of my favorite places... Along the way you twist through these gardens and there's this nice path with trickling fountains... once inside you'll be captured by the artwork... I'll be glad if you came to Hollywood.
