His voice is already dropping and he can still sing OK live from what I've heard.

He has said that he has prepared himself for the day that his voice cracks singing live. It is one of the things Usher works on him with since Usher had the same issue when he was a young singer.

Young tween and teen girls love him. And they spend money. A lot. I was in love with Davey Jones, David Cassidy, Bobby Sherman, Donny Osmond, etc. And I bought a boatload of albums and those guys don't seem to be in the welfare line even though they haven't had a hit in decades. From what I can tell he's a decent influence on the kids (not a drugged out asshole). I don't have an issue with him.
