Terrible is an understatement. It just is not what it used to be. I like real RAP music. Hardcore beats and lyrics. I dont like this pop shit that is out now.
All old wu is classic.
the double cd is one of my all time favorites. Wu-Tang Forever.
I try to only listen to shit that is pre 2001. The rest is mostly garbage.
Some artists still do the right thing.

The (mostly) only bad-stereotypical rap is the south side stuff. There's plenty of good stuff all over the place if you are a listener of hiphop/rap. I'm not even going to list anything because there's so much of it.
In fact there's more good (new) stuff out there getting listens than there is the few garbage popular south side rappers. It's just that the masses these days listen to the garbage.
You don't have to listen to old hiphop to hear something good. In fact there are plenty of people these days doing it much better, that is what evolution is for afterall..
It also depends on what your preferences are. Obvously there's not really ever going to be another Wu or Nas sound but there are plenty of people still making songs with lyrics and production on the same level.

The only people going hard nowadays are everyone at young money / cash money.
Lil wayne, Birdman, etc.
Everybody else seems like they are too lazy or have made too much money to bother making music anymore. You gotta admit, YMCM works their asses off and never stops. I admire that anyway.

Cee Lo Green is pretty cool.
Mostly, it sucks ass, as you've already stated. It breaks my heart to see a car bumping some loud rap, with a white boy driving. There's so much good rock out there, and all of the kids are listening to garbage jungle music.

Wayne has great raps if you listen to all of his stuff and not just what they play on the radio. Birdman doesnt rap anyway but he still goes harder then 99 percent of other wannabe players in the game. Its all what you like I guess.

Plus anybody can rap if they have it wrote for them and go in the studio and lay it down 150 times. If its already in your mind and just flows out and can lay it down like it isnt shit, thats real shit to me. Work hard and get money, thats what im about and therefore makes me like YM / CM as thats what they do.
