Shopping Carts

Hi,
What do you guys think is the best ecommerce software?

I heard miva merchant is great, but there are all these addons you have to buy to get it working right... not to mention all the sites that I saw running miva blow as far as design goes.

Yahoo stores don't look half bad, but they want premium rates for basic shit.

Storefront.net is what I'm working with now, but I'd like to know if there is anything that anyone would SUGGEST and show me an EXAMPLE of

Peace,
Brad

We've developed a complete ecommerce platform that has farily strict separation of design and code elements through the use of a templating engine.

Please email me at [email protected] for a link to a live shop. I suspect you'll like it.

Thanks guys, but so far... no good. Looking for the hot shit.

Example: multiple options per item... color, size, quantity all on the same item page... it's difficult to find something like that and easy to setup all at the same time. I can find that with some shopping carts that make filthy lookin sites, but who wants a dirty ass ecommerce site?

Here's what I use http://www.richmediatech.com/web/index.asp it has multiple options like your looking for. Works well, l=plugs into Dreamweaver, and/or FrontPage for easy use.

X-Cart looks pretty good. You can make your store look different with templates, so it doesn't have to look 'dirty ass'.

Even if it's not the perfect solution, it looks like a good basis to hire somebody to modify to do what you really want. Starting from scratch is going to cost you money.

Anybody have anything bad to say about X-Cart, stuff that as a non-techie i might be missing?

Thanks

X-Cart says it has unlimited amount of options you can add for the products in your store. You just add the drop-down boxes in the template.

i'm just waiting for the criticisms of it, i sometimes get excited over something just cuz it looks easy and cheap, then i find out the bad stuff. So if any has some negatives about X-Cart let me know.

It even offers a very affordable affiliate module. I'm glad I picked it myself.

Spend the money and have someone write you custom software.
When it c omes to programming, and pretty much everything else you only get what you pay for.

X-cart does indeed look good. I am also looking to change, but other priorities.

Check out also: http://www.usasat.net/

I use their cart on one site. Shipping options, payment options, options drop down menu, search facilities, template based, no need to change server settings.

You can make it look as good as you are a good template designer.

and how much do you think it will cost to have a custom shopping cart coded from scratch that is better than some of the scripts listed here?

no reason to re-invent the wheel if the wheel is good. There are things that X-Cart doesn't have that i would like but I think i can get a programmer to do what I want for maybe $500. So for under $1,000 i'll have a pretty good shopping cart solution.

I gotta think to hire a coder to make a custom one is at least 5 times that. Even using third world programmers.

But if somebody has had a complex coding job done for cheap let me know what it was and how much it cost.

Well the best thing I've seen so far was from that email that frankfortuna sent me. It exceeded my expectations and I'm probably going to go with him. X-Cart does look pretty good though... I'm going to look into it further.

Thanks a lot,
Brad

Xcart is a good cart system, pretty fast, php / mysql.

I know it good, as the original system was programmed for one of my stores that I was going to setup, then I had the programmer use in on one of my domains, fcart.com then finally he got his own x-cart.com site, and made some improvements to to the software..

i saw the site Frank was referring to, looked good. What did it have that X-Cart doesn't have?

Maybe you were impressed with the look of the site more? But X-Cart can be customised to look great also.

That site was very stylish.

Todd the X-Cart guy did your sextoy store?

sneaker your store looks good as well.

Yes, I was impressed with the look of the store, but I can design a store better than hers and I was just comparing xcart with Frank's store and I think that Frank's software is going to work better for my particular needs. I need flexible design capability and customization for a small amount of product.

Thankyou, it auto calculates the current discounts of 10/20/30 sets automatically in the shopping cart and throughout the instant purchase.... Then once payment is received your account is automatically setup within 10 minutes (depending on the instant payment notification from the processor) and you can download... Pretty cool system if I do say so myself =) I have set the admin feature so you can track the number of times an item has been sold, how many times it was added to a shopping cart, and a few other good reporting features.

ICQ: 2393986

If you want me to customize you a cart, ICQ me.... I work cheap and offer great support, you can watch the design come together on my test server before it is ever released on your site.
